No-hassle budget hotel
The Shamrock Hotel gives good service, a friendly, accommodating staff, in a location steps from the Jordan Metro. The staff greeted me by name upon arrival and provided an adaptor at no charge, upon request. My only criticisms were that the bedspread was stained on the inside and the blanket had someone else's hair on it. The sheets were clean; the bathroom spotless. You can hear any noise coming from the hallway (voices, etc). I had a (very small) non-smoking room on a non-smoking floor (wonderful) with a sunny southern exposure. There are plenty of good and affordable dining options nearby where the locals eat - you can have more of a genuine experience. You are a 5 minute walk from both the Temple Street night market, and also from Kowloon Park, and a 2 minute walk from a BLT grocery store.
