Hotel on a hill
Situated between Tsim Sha Shiu MTR & Hung Hom MTR. Tsim Sha Shiu station can take u to almost any other MTRs and is centrally located IMO. Behind Hung Hom MTR is the China-HK train station that can take you to China if you plan to visit places like Guangzhou, Foshan etc. The hotel is up the hill which gives you abit of serenity as compared to others situated on busy streets.

Hotel is few minutes walk to main shopping area of Nathan Road. Very near to Miramar shopping mall where all the i.t. fashion brands and D-MOP are. Just next to Miramar hotel is a building where hongkongers buy luxury watches and cameras for both new and used. Also there is a museum, coliseum, polytechnic university nearby.
HK and other cuisine restaurants are within walking distances and there is also a mid-size supermarket nearby where u can stock up water, snacks, toiletries etc.
Hotel rooms are generally quite old but is slightly bigger than many others of the same price range. Nothing fanciful about the rooms and they are still using the traditional key for entrance. Big pillow, wifi access, TV, hot water and other facilities are functional. Ive checked in twice and both visits they do not top up the complementary distilled water, ie, regardless how long u stay, you get 2 bottles of water only. Hotel is fairly clean but the housekeeping needs some work. When i 1st checked in one of my drinking glass has syrup/juiced stained at the bottom. Lobby toilet is clean as well. As for staff they are polite and efficient and all speaks english, mandarin n cantonese.
If u intend to spend most of your HK trip (or even China) out on the streets, but you still want a fairly decent size room, i will recommend SHV Hotel. IMO, the hotel expresses itself for guests whom are looking for 'leave me alone, i dont need to be impressed' kind of people.

scope for improvement
have the following suggestions
1) should have airport express buses come up the slope /or have some sort of bellboy service/ golf cart to walk up the slope.
(especially if you are with luggage)
2) for the price of the rooms they should give complimentary water and it is ridiculous to have to pay hk dollars 100 to rent out a dvd player.. many hotels in hk already have it as an in built facility.
3) there is hardly any vegetarion food available on the food menus
4) all the receptionists should be well conversant with english

The room was adequate in size. The facilities left something to be desired. Two bottles of water were in the bathroom with a ccomplimentary label. They were not replaced although we were in the hotel for 3 nights. I am aware that they want you to use the mini-bar but they could replace the free water every day. Also they failed to provide any soap or toothbrushing equipment. I think these should be standard in any hotel and created a poor impression. Also on the third morning we were early to be asked if we had any laundry. This seems unnecessary since laundry bags were provided with instructions on how to have them collected.

The hotel is located on a steep hill, but no problem of having to haul the suitcases up as the bell boy is there immediately to do it for you. I was very satisfied both with the service and the room itself. The location is excellent, within walking distance of Nathan Road and the MTR (train station). There are plenty of restaurants next to the hotel. I did not eat at the hotel itself, so cannot comment on it. I will definitely stay there again.

My third stay at this hotel. Good value again. location 10 min walk to TST station. my room looked like it had been recently been decorated with new flat screen TV on the wall. A good hotel for a short stopover in Hong Kong. the room is comfortable and has all you need for a reasonable price. The Hotel is on a short steep hill but use the entrance to the car park at the end of Knutford Terrace and take the Elevator. Will be using this hotel as my stopover again in the future.

Good location. However most of the staff are simply rude. Front desk staff never greet or smile or even look at guest in the eye. Overall room is small but due to the location I might stay there again. Not worth SGD$600++ for 4 nights stay.

It overall an enjoyable stay. The MTR is quite far though. And the hill is not really too much of a climb, however if you have been walking the whole day.. then that's a different story. The room is really small. The smallest we've ever been in.. but clean. We just hope that their internet services are free or at least if you buy a prepaid internet card for an hour or so, you can use it in increments. There is a really nice bar opposite this hotel that has cheap but good drinks and with really good music, I think it's called Pelican Bar or something. Breakfast buffet is quite good... the dining area looks huge, spacey and airy because of the glass walls overlooking the street outside.

Very impressed with this hotel overall, especially the handy location. It is in a quiet area within easy walking to the subway and the Star Ferry Terminal. Not much equiptment in the gym though, perhaps due to current renovations taking place. Staff provided us with a late check out at no additional cost. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel.
