Rock hard bed and lousy lift frequency
1) Check-in We took 30 mins to get up to 3rd floor for check in. tried taking the stairs but got lost. Apparently not all stairs leads you to the 3rd floor. We got lost in the maze of stairs and smelly corridoors. We even met a lost caucasian tourist. In the end, we had to go all the waydown to level 1 to take a lift up to the third floor. A chinese man was screaming for others to queue up (later found out that he was one of the receptionist) Only one lift 1.5m x 1.5m (approx) serves the odd levels and another one with the same dimension serves the even number floors. What's even more shocking was that we witnessed garbbage beign transported down the lift. Garbage packed to the top of the lift. No joke! Well, guess that was not surprising given the mazes that we had to walk through to get down the stairs. Don't even know if the Hong Kong Health authority allows that(transportation of that much garbage in a lift). Luckily the garbage wasnt that stinky. 2) Room was ok considering the price we paid. we had 2 rooms. each had one hard bed and a sighlty dofter bed in it. My sister saw a cockroach outside the room. What i didnt like was the sweat stench that greeted us the moment we opened the doors (both rooms). 3) Check-out We had quite some luggage. the lift only goes down on level 3. With plently of people coming up at all hours, there simply is no way 5 of us can take the lift down. The lift was also used to sent cargo so we simply had to wait very long for a lift (30 min?). 4) Miscellaneous Saw this guy checking this brazillian girl on the way up. It was pretty clear the girl didnt like it but that did not stop him from hitting on her. 3) Luckily we only had to stay a night there. The only pros is it's locaton. Although the location was good, there are hostels with the same price (USD 20) or if not cheaper ( we stayed in them) that was much, much better. As a budget traveller we arnt complaining, but there are definitely more value for money places around.

The worst accomodation I have ever stayed in.
This was without doubt the poorest accomodation I have ever stayed in. The booking and travel information/guidance provide on how to reach there was good. The rooms provided were very small but reasonably clean however mine smelt damp. We had upgraded the accomodation to rooms with en suite facilities which were very basic but functional. Hot water was reportedly available twice a day between set times however I never experienced any hot water during my stay. The airconditioning in the room was non-functional and neither was the extractor in the en-suite which was only partially fixed into the wall (I could see passers by through the hole surrounding the fan). My son's room experience was very poor with his first night being disturbed by the sound of what we assume were rats running through the ventilation ducts which transit the room. His second night was even worse when he was awoken in the night by a "fist sized" cockroach tickling his leg in bed. I could not recommend this flop house to anyone.

It was difficuly you find the hotel as there were no signs for it! The room cost the first night HK$560 and HK$200 the second. The second night was a smaller room but the bathroom was cleaner.

We are very devastated with our hotel...We were booked at Oriental Pearl Hotel. When we came to that hotel not even the name existed. It was Taiwan Guesthouse. We were asked to pay additional hkd200.00 for 2nights coz we have 3kids. In our booking we indicated there that we have 3kids and in our series of emails. They did not mention it for the additional payment. We reserved 2 quad budget rooms but when we came there only 1 was available.and we were given 2rooms good for 1person...we were squeezed in that room. The room smelled like a toilet. Since we paid in full for 2nights and we were tight in our budget...we just consumed it.but on that first day we were looking for a hotel for our remaining 3days stay.
