please don't book this "hotel" !!!
it was the most disgusting hotel I've ever been!
the room was very small and dirty!
the shower wasn't really a shower. it looked like a "bathroom" in a cupboard.
if you like animals it's the right place for you! you'll find them in your room.
out of the toilet came a really bad smell! we couldn't open the window because it stank like food.
the staff is very unfriendly and unpolite!
we stayed there 6 nights because we couldn't afford another place because of the chinese new year. but we slept in our sleeping bags because the sheets were really greasily.
and the pictures on the website aren't this hotel. it looks totally different!
i'm sure you'll find a better place to stay in hong kong!

note: you've to fill out the field "What is this accommodation suitable for?" thus we just clicked "Country escape". But it's not suitable for anything!

definitely recommended for short budget trips
My business partner and I stayed at the Tai Wan hostel for a night and had a very pleasant experience with the hotel staff, room conditions were very hygienic, and they are by far one of the cheapest hostels you will find. Travelling with family and kids...not too sure. Definitely recommended for visitors who just need a decent place to crash out for the night, and are on a tight budget.

Last Resort Accomodation!
Small grotty little room, nothing like the pictures on the website! Had paid deposit in UK and on arrival with no sleep on the plane had to pay full balance before seeing the room! Wanted to change but was told no alternative room available so we took it. The toilet which had a shower hanging from a tap off the wall smelt, was leaking and would'nt flush properly. Every time we entered the room you could smell raw sewage!
Fortunately this room was only on 3rd floor as the lift consistently was full going down and always had a queue of at least 16 people whenever we wanted to go up. Walking down the stairs was an experience in itself as each flight stank of urine. This room was so bad, we only stayed 4 out of our 6 nights although we paid for 6 and we checked out 1 night early. It was my partners first experience in Hong Kong and we will always be filled with the horrible memory of that room.
I booked this place as I knew the location from 25 years ago when i lived in Hong Kong. Looking at the website pictures, I was convinced that they had raised their standard and it would be an ok place to stay, cheap and cheerful. Well it was cheap but nothing cheerful at all. Oh and wifi access - forget it, I connected once in 4 days for 5 minutes and they were very unhelpful at reception.
So overall review 0/10 I am afraid. Fortunately our room did have a window and the view looked out at Nathan Road and the "I" shopping centre so that was ok!
This is more of a backpacker hostel than a hotel!

Disaster
Our flight was late in the afternoon, so when I booked for the hotel they asked for an advance payment to secure my hotel reservation for a Room with 2 beds. The charge for that was even higher because it was during weekends. When we finally arrive in the hotel. its was so disgusting that our reserved room was given to other guest and that we were forced to stay in a room with a double deck bed, and we have to use a common rest room. I asked the receptionist why? but they were so cranky and said no other rooms available. I have no choices because I cant get back the deposit I made online. I know it is a budget hotel but it should not be managed that way. The place is so Dirty, elevator is so Small, door locks are not Securely built in. They don't change your bed covers, towels, and room are not cleaned up regularly. They ask for a deposit for the Keys (100HKD). Kinda weird!

General comment
When I booked the room through AsiaRoom, I have received emails from AsiaRoom for the total amount that I need to pay for the room that I booked in Hong Kong. However, I have received emails from the accommodation provider, Tai Wan Hotel which the contents required me to confirm whether should I need to pay extra 20% deposit in order to get "Full secure" room and whether I am confirm to stay at their room. Since I was punctual to arrive the place, hence, I have just confirmed that I am not going to pay any deposit for the said FULL SECURE guarantee. I was really disappointed when I arrived the hotel and they required me to pay them in HKD instead of USD (by cash) which initially I have not been informed through the emails that they sent to me and the staff informed me that the emails required the FULL SECURE room was the email that they informing customer whoever need to pay by credit card has to be done before the check in date and not at the check in date and also credit card payment is not available at their counter. The exchange rate that the Hotel charge was extremely high (normal rate for USD:HKD = 1:7.8 - 7.9 but their rate is 1:8.33) and I have to pay extra HKD250 for my booking. Fortunately I bring enough money and if not I have really do not what will happen for my HK trip with my mum. Also, during my days in the Hotel, I saw a case whereby the staff of the Hotel required the customer to show them the bank statement instead of settlement of deposit statement and the Hotel was not informed them initially (after I talked to the customer) and they were so pissed off during that time. I personally think that it is really bad and unfair for people who booked and stayed at the hotel by such ridiculous way for the payment.
