A pleasure to stay at this wonderful...
A pleasure to stay at this wonderful hotel located within the grounds of the City Palace. All the major attractions are on your doorstep. The staff were very friendly, the weather was perfect and the lake palace view from our very large bedroom was wonderful. It was a shame the open air restaurant in our part of the hotel wasn't quite completed and we had to trek to the main building for food. Udaipur is a wonderful place and I can't wait to go back.

staff was friendly and accommodating and location excellent. sunset terrace restaurant setting couldn't be beat and music during breakfast and dinner provided wonderful ambience. food just okay though. but rooms left much to be desired. peeling paint on ceiling, mustly smell. when I got switched to room with lake view, it was completely obscured by tree. why don't they just trim it to allow for the view???

The location of the hotel is very...
The location of the hotel is very good, it's inside of the City Palace Complex, and facing to lake Pichola. Besides that, I do not recommend the hotel at all. The hotel needs renovation, it's very old fashioned. In our room there were mosquitos and the air con was noisy so it's annoying at night, the cleanliness is just ok. For western standards (USA and Europe) it is not a 5 stars quality hotel, I would say it's a 3 stars. The restaurants were expensive and just an average quality food. We were supposed to have a breakfast buffet in the mornings but there were no buffet, we were told that there were not too many guests staying at the hotel so they decide not having the buffet. If you are hesitating, choose another place to stay.

Very Pleasant, A very beautiful location, Excellent...
Very Pleasant, A very beautiful location, Excellent room facilities, hotel staff were very polite, All services with true smile. Unfortunately, quality of room service,I am afraid to say, was very poor. Excellent restaurants and good choice of menu but too expensive in comparision with local norm.

Our Frommers guide book warned that the...
Our Frommers guide book warned that the hotel might try to "upgrade" us from Dovecote rooms to a suite in the other building which the book considered inferior accommodation. This is exactly what happened to us on check-in. We were taken to a musty dull old suite far away from the main hotel and away from any services which the management wildly claimed had just been redecorated. We refused this and were given a Dovecote room in the main block. While this room had a great view it could certainly have been upgraded with better furniture to reflect the room rate. The view from the waterfront restaurant was magnificent although the buffet breakfast was of average quality.
