Hotel Description

The villas are situated in the cool Bali highlands just ten minutes from Ubud-the cultural centre of Bali. Designed by Balinese architect Ida Bagus Wiadnyana according to ancient traditions, with the correct alignments toward the holy mountain, the villas overlook the sacred Petanu River and lush tropical gorges. Traditional materials are used throughout to harmonise with the environment-alang alang thatched roofing, hand-made terracotta floor tiles, stone and marble all crafted by local artists.
Villa Awang Awang is cooled by fans and natural cross-breezes over water gardens. Entry is via the traditional Balinese gate-way protected by stone guardians and along a garden path through tranquil water-lily filled ponds. Antique Javanese doors open onto the main living area with its soaring alang alang roof and spectacular views from the open terrace.
A large terrazzo and marble bathroom with a deep tub, outdoor shower and double vanity is shared between the two rooms. Stairs lead down to the open dining area with views across the lush valley. The dining table is constructed from sections of an antique Javanese house and comfortably seats up to 10. The kitchen has granite bench tops and is well equipped with 2 refrigerators, oven, gas cook top and modern appliances and utensils.
More antique doors lead to the fourth bedroom which contains a queen-sized bed and a marble/terrazzo ensuite. Sliding glass doors open onto the terrace. Steps lead down to the sundeck and the infinity edge swimming pool with its stunning backdrop of tropical forest.
The friendly staff all lives in the nearby village of Melayang which warmly welcomes our guests to village and temple ceremonies.
Culinary delights abound in nearby Ubud’s many restaurants and cafes, or Dewa our chef can prepare your choice of menu with fresh ingredients from the local market.
