The hotel room that was given to...
The hotel room that was given to us was on the ground level next to a construction site. We moved in and killed 2 mosquitoes and killed many more in the first two days we were there. Then the free wifi we received did not work cos the desk said that the room was unable to pick up any signal. Staff on the first day were most unhelpful. We requested for a room change on the third day cos the mosquitoes were getting worse and were moved to the third floor where the wifi works. Bathroom was old and looks dirty, in both rooms. Location is great, but getting out from Kuta to Legian is a nightmare. The view from the fourth floor pool is great but really, I will never come back to this hotel again.

pretty nice decor and lighting at reception/lobby...
pretty nice decor and lighting at reception/lobby area. we booked superior room but was upgraded without extra expenses to deluxe probably due to overbooking. our 2nd floor room balcony faces the beach but many trees blocked the other-wise perfect view of the sea. the room and bathroom are great, nothing more i can ask for. will be perfect if there is in-room wifi. there is free wifi connection but only if you bring your own laptop to the lobby area. i like the pool. water is warm, good if you are having a morning or evening swim when it is colder, bad if you need a cool swim in the hot afternoons. pool is on top (4th) floor and overlooks the beach, great for the sunset view. breakfast is average but the restaurant provides a good view of the pool and beach while dining. receptionist are professional and polite. i collected many brochures from the airport and a helpful receptionist kindly helped me call up the companies for bookings of activities. then i realised if i go on the streets and book through vendors the prices are much cheaper (bargain for it!)than if i followed the brochures pricing. location-wise it's within walking distance to most parts of kuta, otherwise just get on a taxi or bike which are always readily available on the road outside. hotel is not that near some noisy pubs/clubs so at night it's considered peaceful.

Location was fantastic, if you are keen...
Location was fantastic, if you are keen to grab a late night snack/seafood its just a few steps away at this hawker place which you have good choices of seafood. Just a hop away from Kuta Beach so you can enjoy sunrise/sunset from the infinity pool. Not much amenities within the hotel but you'll be quite well entertained with the buzz within Kuta district. Rooms are cosy so don't expect a big room, but it's all kept clean and very comfortable. Breakfast buffet selection is ok, regular international buffet style. Service staff are very alert so you can approach anyone for assistance. Book a night at Mercure and a night at Hard Rock hotel (just next door) if you are on a smaller budget but would like to experience the Hard Rock flavour. Pool wise, Mercure is still better.

I had a big problem checking in because my card wouldnt work. When I gave them a 100US$ bill they told me that they couldnt accept it because it was from a certain series of notes. They told me to go to a money changer outside the hotel and have it changed there. Boy what a hassle after a long flight and long immigration que. When I got to the room, I found out that my view outside was of a nasty construction site with lots of noise starting in the morning till late evening. Other than that pool was amazing and view were amazing. Do remember taxi fare to hotel from airport is around 50,000 Rupiah. I got ripped off when coming from the airport.

Location of the hotel is superb, smakced right in the middle of the Kuta Beach area. It's easy to walk north and southwards towards the store. The room itself is kinda small, but good enough for a couple or a family with one child. The breakfast is average and the reception area is not air conditioned. The great place I guess is the pool, which overlooks the ocean. The pool's clean and they provide pool towels. Nothing exciting about the hotel except the price.

The lady receptionist was most unpleasant and...
The lady receptionist was most unpleasant and unhelpful. Just drop a bombshell and said " your reservation has been cancelled ". Imagine having 2 old folks with you and after flying more than 4 hours from Bangkok where would you expect to go. Even with a confirmed reservation by Asiabed in hand, she flatly told me that my reservation has been cancelled. After pestering she then told me that the hotel has not received payment from Asiabed. I protested and said that my credit card has been charged and had to plead with her to check with Asiabed. She called and whatever transpired, I do not know but I was asked to wait. Thereafter she left the counter without saying anything and I had to check with another gentleman who was kind enough to tell me that the reservation is in order and that I have to wait for another hour for them to clean the room. My question to Mercure and Asiabed is that why let a customer suffers when there is a blunder between both your companies? I have been using Asiarooms for all my reservation when I travelled but this is really a put off. Maybe Mercure, Asiabed or Asia room can explain to me what actually happened and whose fault is it that me and my parents have to suffer.

The room is a bit small for delux room. Cleanliness is not acceptable. The most beautiful thing is the location, very near to major shopping centre by walking distance. Convenient to shop, eat & have party.

Our stay at the mecure kuta was an exiciting stay, it was our first trip to bali, and won't be our last. The mecure is right in the hub of all the hustle and bustle and while you are in your room you wouldnt now it. Although the rooms are small we had a delux ocean view roon on the 4th floor right next to the pool, they are well sheltered from all the noise, the hotel is directly across the road from the beach which is fantastic. We will certainly stay at the mecure again for the fantastic location. All of the staff at the mecure are beautiful and there consistent polite way that they have make you just want to stay longer.
