Holiday with Small Kids
We were looking for a holiday with our small children ( 3-4-5) in Bali for 5 nights.

Melia Bali offered us the best option we found with their Family room. It has proven great value for money and also enabling us to spend more dollars on Food and other activities. The staff, whether for breakfast or lunch are very relaxed around children. Melia Bali is a great family friendly hotel where adults and children can mingle without any awkwardness. They also have a kids club which is great when the parents want to relax. Santa came by a few times around our table. The kids were delighted and the ice cream delicious!
The hotel has a very large pool suitable both for adults and children. They also have a dedicated pool for small children so that they can play safely.
Other hotels restaurants are just a walk away on the beach. Public Taxi transportation to Seminiak is affordable and available if you ask the concierge.
Staff has always been friendly and smiling towards us whether it is the cleaners, the front end staff, pool or restaurant staff.
A very safe and affordable choice for a great Holiday.

Not Impressed
Despite the hotel trying to charge us a different rate to that booked through Asia Rooms. And the hotel trying to get us to pay in instalments throughout the stay so they could help us manage our credit card limit (WTF!!!) And despite they hotel continually addressing my husband and not me, and not being able to find our reservation because it was booked by “the woman” (their words!). The reception was okay – although culturally insensitive.
The room was old and tired, the DVD player didn’t work proper and was replaced (eventually) but the room was large and the air conditioning was good.
The water temperature and pressure were appalling; I requested to have our room changed because we had NO water in the shower and we were told that the hotel was full and we would have to wait. The water issue was fixed but only after I demanded and elevated the issue.
The kids club was fabulous; I could not say enough positive things about the staff.
The pool closed each night at 7pm and the WIFI was about 25USD/day!
The service was very slow and lack lustre! The staff attitude was poor, allow they were subservient they were lazy, slow and the language barrier was amazingly difficult to overcome.
The food was very ordinary, expensive and inconsistent; you could order the same food twice and receive something different each time.
Overall I would not go back.

Perfect holiday location
We loved the Melia. It sits in a lovely area of Nusa Dua, on a white sandy and very clean beach amongst a group of other deluxe hotels. Fabulous pool, plenty of sun lounges. Our family room was great. Service was amazing, all staff are so friendly and eager to please. The breakfast buffet was a wonderful way to start the day. We would definitely recommend the Melia to anybody looking for a quality hotel in a lovely spot, whether couples or families.

Hope to return
Our second stay at Melia Bali and would have no hesitation staying again. Great location in Nusa Dua and out of the wind, nice layout, rooms good and food excellent. Food well priced too in comparison with hotels nearby. Recommended.

Swedish family living in Australia
Pros: Friendly and service minded staff! Excellent breakfast. Beautiful and clean garden and Pool area. Good Kids club with many different activities and amazing, child loving staff! Well equipped gym and good water aerobics daily. Only a short walk to the closest shopping centre with many shops and restaurants, good for families. Decent restaurants in the hotel, but I woldnt give them 5 stars. Tapas bar and Japanese restaurant ere really good! Cons: The beautiful garden and hotel is full of ponds, I would hesitate to bring a 1-2 year old. The family room did not live up to our expectations but was big, clean and convenient. Some elevators were constantly broken, annoying with a pram.

Family Holiday - Melia Hotel
I thought the hotel was very nice and family friendly, the rooms are a little dated, but clean enough. The food on site was great but very expensive compared to going for a 5 minute walk around the corner to the shopping centre, were there are lots of restaurants to choose from and half the price of the hotel. There is also a big supermarket in the shopping centre. The beach was very nice and clean. The pool was great for adults and children alike. Bali is a fast developing area so expect some noise in and around the hotel and the surrounding area.

Kicking back at Melia Bali
We used the Melia Bali as our first place in Bali after the long flight to kick back and settle in. The location is Nusa Dua is good for that. The hotel is very comfortable although the interior seems to be wearing off with the years. Facilities are immaculate and the pool area is great. Beach dwellers - be aware that part of the sand is washed off!! We were not sure whether this is temporary due to the rain season, but the Melia seems to be hit worse comparatively to the other resorts. The quality of the food (breakfast buffett) was wonderful; they even open at 6 am (good for jetlaggers or if you have an early start the next day). Snacks / food at the beach restaurant are - hmmm - pricey!!!!! Overall, a very nice stay with little surprises (good or bad).

We were booked for 4 nights but left the hotel after one night only in disgust. We had booked a Junior suite which was a duplex and it was very bad so we upgraded ourselves to a Deluxe suie. For the money that they were charging the accomodation was pathetic. It is not at all a 5 star hotel. We were misled to think that it is a 5 star hotel otherwise we would not have booked ourselves. The receptionist a girl thought that she was doing us a favou when we asked for certain clarification and guidance on places to see and the very confusing currency of Indonesia etc. In disgust we did not enquire any further. The food was very bad.
We wanted to check out the next day, when we werte told that since we had booked for 4 nights, they shall charge for an additional night, which I thought was ridiculous. After that I spoke to the manager and When I complained that neither the air conditioning was working properly, nor the food was good, he agreed to charge for only the day we spent the night.
The property is good but a lot need to be done in terms of service, quality of staff and hospitality.
I will never recommend this hotel to people who are accustommed to 5 star services.

Family trip
Excellent hotel. Big garden and pool and many activities. Food is ok. Beach is ok, little bit narrow coastline but still ok. Our room was also ok, we had a family room. Only we mentioned that there are ants in the night time on the ceiling of the corridor and double bed is absolute robbish, they should replace these to new one - it is stiff and crackles if you turn yourself.
But general view is very good and we would definitely stay there again.
