Quiet and relaxing getaway
Our family of three were pleasantly surprised by the scenic valley as well as the relaxing environment that Alila has created out of the natural surroundings. The wild monkeys which kept to themselves and blended in well with the trees doing what they did naturally - climbing trees and playing with one another did not once disturb the guests who were lazing around either swimming or reading by the pool. Instead the monkeys were a joy to watch and were not perturbed at all by the occasional camera shots by interested guests. The infinity pool was a huge draw as was the food which was delicious to any international palate yet very much retains its own local balinese flavour.
The room's most splendid part was the open concept bathtub. Bathing in the outdoors was pure luxury and the shampoo, conditioner and shower gel smelt marvellously spa-like! A little disappointed that there was no TV in the room however that is fine if you have your own laptops for the occasional entertainment. Overall, sheer indulgence and rest for the mind and soul!

Should be under 100 USD
Friendliness of the staff is outstanding because hotel is located in Bali. Most of the hotels/resorts would give you the same experience. Alila Ubud and Manggis are unfortunately old run down hotels which would have been nice places to visit 10 years ago or if price / room would be under 100 USD / night. Now there are so many other options...

I had a great 2 days relaxing at Alila which is in a picturesque, semi-rural setting close to Ubud. The Asia room description was very accurate. The restaurant food (although not cheap for Bali) was excellent, go for what's recommended on the day. It was very popular with couples and I would have rated it higher for seniors except for the large number of steps to negotiate.

My second stay at Alila, after a great stay last year. Stunning environment, ever helpful staff, wonderful food. Only thing that was slightly disappointing was that the a la carte breakfast now no longer allows unlimited servings of mains. Friday complimentary poolside cocktail party is not to be missed. Performance of authentic legong dance is of a standard that puts the dancers at those tourists traps in batubulan to shame. Pool is amazing, spa is amazing. There's no bathtub in the bathroom, but showering in front of the full length window with a full view of the jungle and clear blue sky is somehow strangely calming... wonderful experience. i can certainly stay there forever...

The surroundings are the big plus in this hotel. Jungle, rice fields, monkeys, it's all beautiful. Also the perfect infinity pool was memmorable. The restaurant is expensive but very good. Only minor aspect was the amount of Dutch guests (has Allila Ubut package deals with Dutch tour operators?)

This hotel is absolutely fantastic! We enjoyed our stay there very much. It is located in the middle of the tropical forest, from the terraces of the rooms you have a fantastic view. The pool is extraordinary and also from there ... the view is more than fantastic. It is a very quiet hotel, no TV in the rooms. But you have an I-pod with all kinds of music. The rooms are very stylish, the design of the whole hotel is very modern. We had a room with a terrace and the shower was outside in a little garden. Fantastic! We have not tested the SPA. Hotel staff is more than friendly, they try to help as much as possible. You can use the hotel bicycles for tours in the rice fields. The hotel offers a regular shuttle service to Ubud, which is great! The hotel is more for couples to spend some very romantic days there. It's not good for children because there is really not much for them to do. Guests go there to enjoy the silence and the great view and to relax totally from the stress during the year ... so we would definitely go there again!

Staying at Alila was an absolute delight, the experiance of being pampered was incredible and the serenity of the hotel was amazing. The room was beautiful, nice and clean and the staff are so friendly and happy and my partner and I loved the pool, definitely a place for romantics. The only slightly negative thing I can say about the place is the food and alcohol can be a little bit pricey but then again you are on holidays so enjoy!
