good resort and stuff but duty manager sucks
We have booked the big Ubud Villa room instead of the smallest Batuang room as we have 2 young children with us. When we arrived, the Duty manager insisted that even if we have booked the biggest room in the villa, 1 room can only accommodate 2 adults. He wanted us to book 2 villa rooms instead, separating our children from us. He was downright unreasonable and rude. He even slamed his file on the table and tell us to just pay and stay or leave even after we told him that the children are tired and hungry as it was already 8 pm and we needed to rest. He refused to let us settle the issue the next day or just stay for 1 night. He just wanted us to make a decision right then to agree to stay for 4 nights. He said that he report directly to the villa's owner and his decision is the owner's decision. He outright proclaimed that "it is alright" if the customers are unhappy as long as the issue was not brought up to the owner. He gave his name as Made Karda and he said that he was not bothered about bad review or feedback of the villa.
As the children were very tired, we eventually pay US$30 per night (inc. tax) to get an extra bed which we did not require. We were there for 4 nights and this was indeed an unnecessary amount incurred. We deemed that this is better than separating our young children from us. When we saw him the next day, he did not even smile or acknowledge us. It is a pity for the villa to have such a staff in the front office.

But overall, we would like to say that the rest of the staff carried out their duties effectively and most are friendly.

Very typical accomodation
Very nice hotel with very typical architecture and large room, inside a lot of vegetation and rice plantation.
Very romantic restaurant and very good food
Staff very friendly
Free shuttle to/from Ubud
Only disadvantages
Small swimming pool not enough sunny
Breakfast too restrictive and not enough rich if you like mainly bread and pastries

Reception helpful and friendly, room was large with large balcony overlooking rice paddies. large bath and very clean. In the dinning area there were mosquitoes as rice paddies are very close by.They had run out of food, on our first night of arrival, quality of food was basic.Shuttle bus was excellent as we were driven into Ubud for dinner and picked up after. Cafe des artist is a good restaurant food is quality. The staff recommended Celebrity Cycling tours we enjoyed cycling through the rice paddies and were well looked after, as when it gets tiring you can put your bike in the van that follows, that was a great experience. Would stay at Tephi Sawah Villas again.

Great, affordable option for Ubud
After spending 4 nights on the beach in Seminyak, we opted for just 2 nights at Tepi Sawah Villas in Ubud to end our short stay in Bali. Unfortunately 2 nights was not nearly enough. We stayed in one of the Taman Villas, which we found to be spacious and clean. We did however find it was strange that there was a rather large seperate study in our room. This would be great for a business trip, but we felt that this space could of been better utilised. The grounds at Tepi Sawah are beautifully maintained and the restaurant offers many seating options froms tables in the main restaurant area or tables or cushioned floor seating in the many gazebos that offer beautiful views of the gardens and rice fields that surround the restaurant. The food in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced. We tried the famous crispy duck and several seafood dishes and all were fine, but none exceptional. My main concern was the prawns in the seafood dishes were tiny and not very good. Breakfast was included in our accomodation package and was very good. I especially recommend the Black Rice Porridge (Bubor Pulut Hitam) which is offered on Saturdays only. It was fantastic. Tepi Sawah is located away from central Ubud, but this was not a problem as there is a free shuttle to and from town that runs from 9am to 10pm. This can be requested at any time and was usually ready in 10-15 minutes of our request. There are many dances on in Ubud each evening and the staff were great in recommending the best ones to see and arranging our transport. We saw a Legong & Barong Dance on the Friday night at the Balerung Stage and the Kecak (Fire Dance) on the Saturday night at the Pura Dalem Taman Kaja and both were exceptional. I can't wait to return again to Bali and to Ubud in particular and I think we will stay at Tepi Sawh Villas again. I think it would be difficult to find better value for money in such a lovely setting.

Our family with 2 teenagers stayed for 3 nights in Taman room with extra bed. You can save by adding the extra bed while making internet booking so as not to incurred the 21% additional services tax. The main receptionist was rather stern during check-in and check-out but all other staff are very friendly. My family enjoyed our stay very much, the gardens are beautiful with padi fields just next to the hotel. Breakfast was good too. A nice swimming pool although we did not have time to use it. Transportation to Ubud center can be arranged easily, remember to book in advance so you do not spend time waiting for the driver to come. Pick up was very punctual too. We also enjoyed our dinner at the in-house restaurant where you can have a very private dinner in special area within the garden.

Everything went very smoothly from the start,...
Everything went very smoothly from the start, from the guide who was waiting for us at the Denpasar airport for the transfer to the hotel (which we had arranged just the night before) even when there was abit of delay on our part. The room was lovely, we had a free upgrade to a villa (i think the Taman villa) with a pretty balcony overlooking the pool. I hear that free upgrades occur rather often during off-season periods, so you just might want to take that chance. There was another smaller room which had a work desk and extra space to store luggage. The room itself was very beautiful, a good blend of modern amenities and Balinese paintings. The bed was comfortable, and the huge mosquito nets were pretty and effective. The air-conditioning worked well as well. The room service was perfect - towels changed promptly, bed made, mosquito coils relit etc during the time that my friend and i were in town at Ubud. Breakfast was very good - love the banana pancakes! And, the service! Very polite, friendly, cheerful and kind staff. Wonderful people. One of them offered to show us pictures of his climb up Mount Batur when we were waiting at the reception area. The free shuttle service to Ubud was great, and the drivers were punctual, friendly and very patient. When we were looking for a place to get a Balinese massage, the driver actually offered to let us alight at various places to check out the prices before deciding on which place we wanted to go to. Transport was a breeze in Ubud because of them. There is also a Art gallery at the entrance, where i met the owner of the place. He was very well-informed about the different types of Balinese paintings, and was very friendly as well. I don't usually like writing long reviews, but i thought this Villa deserved one. Definitely going back.

I stayed at Tepi Sawah Villa with...
I stayed at Tepi Sawah Villa with my boyfriend for 5 days. Here are my reviews: The good: - Very private. During breakfast we saw a few families with children around but the strange thing is, we never got disturbed by them even though our villa was right in front of the pool and breakfast area. - Service is good, the staff all remember you by name and they make an effort to take note of your preferences and will make recommendations for activities accordingly. - Housekeeping comes thrice daily to keep your room tidy and clean. They also provide mosquito coils which were really helpful in keeping the mozzies away. - Convenience. Although Tepi Sawah Villa is quite a distance away from Ubud centre, the free car shuttle service was a huge help. All you have to do is tell them where you are headed and what time you expect to be picked up...and they are punctual too! - Great breakfast. They have 4 breakfast sets which are enough to keep you full till late afternoon. The not so good: - They provide free Wifi which was one of the reasons why we chose to stay here. However, when it rains, the connection lapses, which was a little frustrating for me. - I am not sure if all airport transfers are this expensive but it cost me 300,000 IDR per way for airport transfers, which was a little pricey for me.

The Taman Room was great. It was very spacious, clean and the fit out was superb. The shuttle servicer to and from town was very good and was certainly needed because it's a 20 to 30 minute brisk walk to the edge of town. The staff were very friendly and tried hard to please but the quality of service was only just passable becuase most staff were not trained all that well. It was great value for money but you should not expect the level of service that you receive at muich more expensive resorts such as the Anantara chain.
