Had booked 16 nights at the Melasti, checked out after 9 and paid an extra $1000 to get to the Jayakarta up the road.
Plenty of flies around Bali this yr, and breakfast at the Melasti does not include covered food warmers, so each time we went down to breakfast, all the food was covered in flies!!! So eggs it was, because you could stand and watch them being cooked then eat them straight away before any flies got to them.
We had a superior room, which included a balcony, but the balconys are not private, so the people in the next room are vitually sitting next to you when out on the balcony, we don't smoke, and found it very annoying getting smoked out by the puffers on both sides everytime we went outside. Seems to be a habit of the regulars of this place to shout to each other from their balconys at all hours of the day!!! So, if like me, you like to sit on your balcony in the evening and have a drink and relax before you head out for dinner, forget it!!!!!
Been to Bali quite a few times now, and mostly go there to relax, found that impossible at this hotel.

stayed for 6 nites at the melasti and time there was overall very good. this hotel is very quiet and remotely secluded for the busy area of kuta, room was very spacious and clean, everything worked except the shower was a bit weak but did the job. a little trek to get into kuta tho, however some great resturants on the way towards kuta, excellent little bar at the front of the hotel for pre drinks or a meal. not really recommended for young mates to stay at unless u like a quiet hotel. overall very good

Swimming pool's and their surrounds are very tired. Great location though right on the beach and close to restaurants. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Toilet in room would not flush properly, water pressure poor and aircon a bit suspect. Not the place to take the love of your life for a romantic week.
Breakfeast a bit slap dash too.

The room we stayed in was in the old building. The room looked tired, the bidet leaked so there was constant water on the floor. The area around the pool is in need of some urgent maintainence. The service was good and friendly.

We always enjoy staying at Melasti Beach Resort, Legian. It is like home away from home, popular with aussies and families. The staff are friendly and bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable and problem free. We will be staying there again next year.

Great value for the price. Breakfast gets a bit bland if you plan on staying over one week. We got a really bad room to start with but with some perseverence they allowed us to move....much happier with second room.
Make sure you get to see Saharadja (great band) at Obsessions on Dyana Purna (Seminyak) on a sat night if you can. Well worth it!!

Great hotel with great facilities, very friendly staff and the restaurant overlooking the beach is the perfect way to eat breakfast followed by a stroll along the beach. Will stay here again.
