Warm and Cloudy
For our visit to Rama Candidasa we chose a medium priced room. We were very pleased with the standard of the room. It was large with a mini bar and a very large fairly luxurious, and well decorated bathroom. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The only thing lacking was a ceiling fan, as we would have liked to manage without the air-con on all of the time. There was a small porch with comfortable seating at the front. overlooking a garden area. There are no beaches in this area but it is right on the sea. It was pleasant to watch and listen to the waves crashing in onto the sea wall. Views of nearby islands was attractive. The food at the hotel was reasonable expensive but the service was good. The staff were very pleasant and obliging. The town was a short inexpensive taxi ride away where cheaper food and drinks could be found. There were a range of traditional activities demonstrated by the local inhabitants on varying days. The pool was a good size and very clean. A range of excursions to other part of the island could be arranged easily. This hotel probable would not be suitable for families with children as there was not a lot for them to do. Walking on the roads in this area was hazardous due to the narrowness and any footpaths were not in good repare. We were here at a quiet time and really enjoyed mostly just relaxing.
My best friend and I finished off our Bali holiday at Rama Candidasa resort and Spa. The grounds were beautiful. The view from our ocean room villa was incredible. The staff were very friendly, the restaurant food was fantastic and the spa treatment was amazing. We left feeling relaxed and revitalized. It is very quiet and tranquil the perfect place to stay to unwind. I would highly recommend the resort.
The best hotel we've found in Bali
We stayed at Rama Candidasa Hotel for 3 nights in a Junior Suite and the experience exceed our expectations in all terms, at the point that we came back after one week at the gili islands for 3 more nights.
The Junior Suite is simply excellent. We were absolutely impressed with the BED that is composed by a 60cm mattress that makes you feel like on a cloud. The nights became awesome and we did had rest as never before. Back in Paris we've bought the same bed as it is unique.
The pool and the restaurant are also excellent in all ways. They are not huge which is great for not loosing the charming Balinais way of life.
The only thing we did not like at all at this wonderful hotel was the Bungalows Luxe. We made our second booking for one of these rooms and after one night there we decided to change the room and upgraded it to a Junior Suite. The room was dark, the furniture was very old and the bathroom smelt sewer. There was not luxe at all at that room (its not that we are looking for luxe, not at all, it's the name of the rooms) and the confort of the bed was miles away when comparing it with the Junior Suit's one. The most imprssive thing is that there is just a difference of about 50 dollars in the room price !!
We really recommend this hotel for its great facilities, fabolus landscape and lovely staff but the only type of rooms that we think really matches the hotel are without any doubt the Junior Suites.

Nice hotel, however, the service is not very reactive and the location is quite far away. It's difficult to walk from the hotel to the nearby village.

THE HOTEL IS STILL EXPENSIVE COMPARED TO THE MARKET PRICE BALINESE. THE HOSTING SERVICE IS NOT VERY FRIENDLY AND DON'T REFLECTS THE SPIRIT OF THE ISLAND.
THE RESTAURANT GIVE POORLY WITH IN THE BACKGROUND OF HOTEL... TOO MODERN. BATHROOM IS LITTLE AND AGING.

Only spent one night here but it was a treasure!! In fact a week later i returned and spent another night. Nice lay out and perfect room, very spacious, service was excellent with good english speaking staff.Highly recommend to anyone!!
We booked a delux ocean view cottage...
We booked a delux ocean view cottage and when we arrived were given a hotel room, granted it had an ocean view but it was in no way a cottage. When we asked to be moved to a cottage we were told there were none available. The room was clean but very old and outdated. The pool area was lovely and looked out over the beach. The standard of service at the hotel was extremely poor compared to what we are used to in Bali, a lot of the staff did not seem to understand English and made little effort to be of any assistance. The breakfast was the worst we have ever experienced in Bali, while the restaurant looks pretty spectacular it absolutely is not, there were flies crawling all over the buffet and we even saw a rat scampering around. My husband, myself and our two year old daughter all ended up with upset stomachs. Overall this hotel was a huge disappointment and I would certainly not recommend it. We have stayed at the Warergarden in Candi Dasa before and found this to be a much better option
I will never stay at Rama Candidasa...
I will never stay at Rama Candidasa anymore!! Reasons:
1.) Faraway from everything. 1.5 - 2hrs from KUTA. We walked 300m (right of main road) to HOTEL LOTUS for dinner, much cheaper, nicer staff and better ambience. But the food not so good as well(TOO SALTY)
2.) Rude staff - Reception staff were ok. no one greeted us when we were walking around the hotel, they only greet Caucasians(double standard). When asked for pricelist at the restaurant, the staff just passed us the menu and walked away.
3.) Smelly bathroom - Strong Ammonia in the bathroom all day long.
4.) Expensive Food - 35,000 Rupiah for 1 plate of Gado Gado(veggie with peanut sauce).
5.) Unhygienic - Flies and sandflies and all sort of insects attacking us & our food during breakfast buffet.
6.) Unsafe - The hotel room has only conventional door lock (not computerized) using key! Anyone can easily break into the room. There are 3 entrances opened 24/7, 2 at the side and 1 main lobby. We are just 5m from the villagers and outsiders.
Overall terrible experience and will never ever go there again.

The location of the hotel is a short ride into Candi Dasa but a little too far to walk which did curtail some activities, having said that the view from the hotel was very nice indeed, for the area I believe it was a s good as you would get. The hotel is not directly onto the beach as a 20 foot drop exists between the edge of the hotel's building perimeter down to the waters edge however no real beach exists even at water level, more of a shingle shoreline below. However the hotel provides a sandy area which gives a beachlike appearance within its grounds.
We stayed in the deluxe bungalow and was glad we had as even this appeared a little tired in appearance, the shower area was semi outdoors but the bath and toilet was in an enclosed room and was very dated. Room facilities were adequate and the room did have a cd/dvd player which was good. The bed was very comfortable.
The breakfasts left a lot to be desired with very little choice compared with other hotels we stayed at on our vacation, lunches around the pool were good though and evening meals were better proportioned also.
We chose this hotel as the best of the bunch in Candi Dasa and it was a lot better than many, we wished it had been closer into the village as it would have given us more scope but we really chose the area for its relaxation appeal and that did not disappoint. There are a couple of alternate hotels in the vicinity which I may look at next time around but I would not discount a repeat visit to this hotel. Oh to say the pool and garden areas are very pretty

The hotel is lovely, the pool area with seaviews is great. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only negative is the restaurant is extremely expensive and the food is not great compared to nearby (good - not budget) restaurants.
