2 Days at the Pelangi
We are very frequent visitors to Bali since our son has been living in Indonesia 3 years and so we have had frequent reunions with him there. This is a renovated "older" hotel in the mid-range price. Accommodation, food and friendliness were all quite good. However, the major downside is that this Hotel is situated in a rather run-down area of Seminiak. It abuts a somewhat grotty beach-front pathway which has cheap and not very nice eateries along it. Also, its extremely busy with motorbike traffic and you walk down it at some risk and especially in the dark as its very poorly lit. So in summary the Hotel is fairly okay but we wouldn't choose to be in this location again.

overall value for money, but the services at the SPA should be improved. I paid for an hour massage and another hour pedicure, but for both sessions they only lasted approximately 35mins each. The receptionist at the hotel front desk was also not very helpful and unfriendly.

Very quiet room which was terrific. Staff very helpful and friendly. Only point s that when staff are making beds in other rooms they drag the beds across the floor when it is made to put it back into position. This is sooo loud and you can hear it from many rooms away. Not an action packed hotle but like I said is very quiet not full of Aussie wankers either. Not far to go to get to Ku De Ta

This was our third visit. The restaurant has been nicely renovated and the meals are very adequate and tasty. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bathroom is very nicely renovated, however there is a bath shower and this could make it hard for anyone unable to step in and out of the bath. However we were as before very pleased with our choice. The location is close enough to get anywhere including Kuta, yets far enough away to make it a little secluded and we would recommend this to any travellers.

This was our first visit to Bali...
This was our first visit to Bali and having heard of the constant haranguing by hawkers, we chose to stay in Seminyak because it was reputedly quieter and more upmarket than Kuta . We chose the Pelangi Bali because it was on the beach and very very affordable for a family of 5 whose only need was a swimming pool and a comfortable bed. Good choice. Although nowhere near as impressive as many of the Seminyak Hotels like the Sofitel or the Samaya the Pelangi Bali does have charm and authenticness and the most happy, smiley, friendly staff. They make you feel welcome and at home and that is the key to staying in a hotel on holiday. The pool is lovely and because it is not a big hotel, the pool was never too busy or too crowded to get a lie low. It has a cute swim up bar with friendly, chatty bar service. Drinks are very reasonably priced for a hotel. The breakfast buffet which was included in our tariff of $54 per person per day was very adequate. We have eaten at better and bigger and more varied buffets but for breakfast, it was more than satisfactory. Except for the coffee. But people, like ourselves, who like one very good cup of coffee in the morning, rarely find you can get a good cup of coffee at a buffet breakfast. The room was big and comfortable enough with a king size bed, a couple of chairs and table for either inside or balcony use, a smallish, non-plasma TV with 60 channels , about of them being movie channels and an adequate but smallish bathroom. The water pressure was strong and the water hot and that made up for having to shower in the bath tub, one of my pet hates. Hanging space was adequate enough – how many clothes do you really need for Bali? No safe in the room was a little inconvenient although there was a safety deposit box at reception. And even when we were no longer guests, they were great. As we had a late plane home, they gave us an hour’s use of a complimentary room so that we could shave and shower and get dressed for the plane. Wonderful, warm service in a comfortable beach side hotel.

Lovely pool and bar area overlooking the beach, good breakfast. Roooms quite spacious and very clean but with tiny balcony. About 10 minutes walk towards Kuta to a good group of beachfront restaurants. Staff friendly and helpful. Good value

The restaurant is facing the sea with fantastic view and it is great place to start a brand new day having breakfast. The spread for the breakfast is average but there is room for improvment for the hot dishes, like bacon. Everything in the room (water heater, air-con and tv, etc) works well. The staff are efficient and very friendly. Taxis are prohibited to pick up passengers from the road outside the hotel which can be inconvenient at times to walk out for about 10 minutes to the main road to get a taxi.
