Beautilful place
Beautiful old traditional hotel with some history. It is located by the river in the quiet part of the Ubud, walk distance to the town for eating and shopping. They also have suttle bus to the town in every 1 hours till 9pm. The hotel don't have TV in the room, but we don't feel we need it in the such nature enviroment. My 8yrs daughter just read book instead. The staffs are friendly. The breakfast is a little bit basic as bali style. Over all, we like this place.

Ubud stay
Grounds and garden great, staff great, food good.
Rooms a little tired and need a renovation. Apart from that a very nice relaxing place to be.

We stayed in Ubud for 4 nights during June. The hotel setting and surroundings were stunning, green and lucious. This was the main draw card for the hotel. With regards to service it took 30 mins to check in, however staff were very friendly and polite. With this hotel being the oldest in Ubud it is very run down. The rooms were tidy but not clean, especially the bathrooms. The architecture is quite traditional and the restaurant looks amazing however the food was very average and the cost for drinks was slightly above average. We paid $84aud per night plus $20 for a load of laundry. Friends who did not book through asia rooms paid $120. Throughout our time in Bali / lombok this was our second most espensive stay. Value for money? Not really sure although considering the fact that is was in Ubud possibly an average price. The reason you would stay would be for the most beautiful surroundings you may ever see around a hotel, but the cleanliness and the need for a complete revamp is a huge let down.

To be refreshed
Hotel in need of serious refreshing Outside is showing a lack of maintenance and the room was heavily smelling humidity and the bed linnen was not completely clean. The gardens of the hotel are luxurious with plants but the hotel managers seem to have forgotten that it would be preferable that the pathway did not also look like a jungle track! Pool beeing in the shade almost all day; its water is cold and again, ground beeing not too clean it doesn't feel nice to walk barefoot. Many stairs in the hotel so you better not be handicapped.

Slice of Heaven
A perfect getaway away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta/Legian area. Some great fine dining in the area. A wonderful place to enjoy.

Beautiful setting
Hotel is set in a very picturesque part of Ubud, lots of steps so no good if you have trouble getting around, most staff helpful and friendly, breakfast was disappointing and had no fridge in room which was also annoying. Had room with balcony which was lovely to sit at and watch all the wildlife. Room was clean but had no safe in room which i like. Would probably stay again if had room with fridge

Visit May 2011
We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and love the setting and gardens, however the room we had was very dirty and poorly maintained. Breakfast was adequate but the staff did not seem organised or go out of thier way to actually provide service we noticed a number of guests ask for seating arrangement but staff were not accomodating. Restaurant service at dinner was appalling, could not get attention to order drinks, then waited 40 minutes and order was wrong, food order dealt with a little quicker but quality very ordinary, prices for drinks - food and service was expensive for what you got, again love the location and gardens but would not stay again based on this experience, this was my 28th trip to Bali.
