The only gripe I have about the...
The only gripe I have about the place was the service at the restaurant. I ordered a watermelon/apple honey juice mix the first day at breakfast and it was excellent. The second day, it was so diluted and tasteless. When I complained to the staff, instead of offering me to switch to a different juice he said the fruits they got on that day was not good and left it at that. Frankly this is not the acceptable standard of service that I would expect from a hotel like Uma.

We have just got back from a...
We have just got back from a fantastic honeymoon in Bali. The Uma Ubud was perfect. We stayed for 3 nights and from the moment we got there we were totally spoilt. When we arrived we had been upgraded to a garden room for free, and had a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us when we arrived, to congratulate us on our recent marriage. The staff could not do enough for us, they were very polite and able to answer any questions we had regarding the local area. The resort itself is beautifully designed and kept very clean and tidy. The food is also excellent. We both had a massage at the Uma and although it was good, there are equally as good places to have a massage which are much cheaper. Bali is a cheap destination for Western tourist, but the Uma does not fall into this category; however it is still far cheaper than what you would pay in the UK for a hotel of this quality and you certainly get what you pay for.

This place is heaven. We had a terrace villa and loved it. The bed was so comfortable and we were able to sleep with the window shut and no air-conditioning without the place being stuffy and hot, an exception. The staff is perfect. There is an excellent complimentary yoga class every afternoon at 4 pm. Delicious freshly-squeezed fruit juices at the restaurant or the bar. Games (like solitary, backgammon, monopoly etc.) available at the bar as well as a large selection of good-quality books. There is a shuttle bus into Ubud every two hours. It is also possible to walk into the centre in about 20-25 minutes on good footpaths (for Ubud). The restaurant is excellent. Food is extremely fresh and varied, we ended up having all our meals there, a real treat. Breakfast is wonderful. As a French person, I am usually quite indifferent to this meal and at home will only have a cup of coffee before dropping by at the baker to buy a croissant or chocolate bread. For the first time in my life (I am 48 !) I actually looked forward to breakfast and was wondering every evening what I would choose next morning. This hotel is wonderful.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Uma. Perfect service, everybody was very friendly and helpful. The room was made up twice the day - they had a special service to clean up the room for the night, e.g. lightened the candles et cetera. The rooms are a bit small but the bathrooms are spacious. Excellent DVD-choice to bridge rain delay or whatever. Very quiet place to relax at the very stylish pool or on your terrace - we booked a terrace room with nice view. Very good bar with great variety of perfect made drinks - even if a bit expensive compared to "street" prices. The breakfast was breathtaking with superb juices and house blends of smoothies, excellent coffee and balinese style types of breakfast too. The restaurant is worth a try though you can have great value dinner at the Naughty Nury Waroeng only 50 meters down the street. The COMO Shabala philosophy meets you everywhere which gives the place a kind of meditation touch. We tried a facial treatment in the japanese style Spa - relaxing! We began looking for other COMO resorts. Excellent value ...

I stayed 3 nights at the Ritz in jimbarayan then stayed 3 nights at uma ubud. i must say, uma ubud is way better than the ritz. the staffs are much more professional and the cleanliness is also way better than the ritz. i enjoyed their restaurant so much that i hardly went out to eat. everybody at uma is there to help you and make sure you are comfortable. i am so pleased with uma that i would like to visit other como resorts around the world. i personaly wouldn't go back to the ritz for sure, but i am defnitely going back to uma ubud. it was such a lovely experience.

Splendid hotel, professional and pleasant service staff,...
Splendid hotel, professional and pleasant service staff, impressive landscaping are what make Uma stand out. Especially liked their bathroom, wardrobe and patio that looked out over a valley - on the days it rained I could hear the water gushing in the stream far below. I'm more ambivalent about the spa services - average quality for top-tier prices. Food at the Kemiri restaurant was good, though. Breakfast was always a hearty affair that lasted me through to dinner. I ordered room service for a couple of dinners so that I could enjoy the view from my patio, and each time, the spread did not fail to please or satiate. But perhaps Uma's winning touches are in the finer details. Cold towel and a refreshing drink were served on my arrival late at night. The hotel has a bibliophile's dream of a library - small but amply filled with titles from classics to Nick Hornby's Fever Pitch. If you're stuck your room on a rainy day, u could borrow VCDs from the front desk. All titles looked to be releases within the past 2 years. If I had to nit-pick, it would be that the narrowness of walk-ways meant that I literally had to fend off plants poking into my path at times. Having a patio also invited insects (harmless), and the occasional pinch of dirt, into the bedroom. All told, Uma made an effort to make itself a home away from home. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
