room quality
We stayed at the Patra Bali each side of a week in Lombok and the difference between the two rooms was significant. The first room was fine, the second room was not. The quality of the fold up beds for the children was unsatisfactory. The beds were old and the mattress thin. I complained and asked for the same quality beds and mattresses we had the first time and this was done. The shower was impossible to get to a consistent temperature, the wooden venetian blinds wouldn't close making for an early wake up. The resort itself is nice, the pool is good and plane noise wasn't a factor.

The accommodation was second rate. We paid $180 Australian dollars per night a total rip off !!!!!!!!Food was less than average. Bathroom needed renovating. TV way off off date. Very very disappointed stayed there before has gone down hill and around the corner..
we have stayed at the Patra many times, great hotel good value for money friendly staff clean big rooms( some are refurbished ) great buffet breakfast included with room but another meals there or drinks around the pool ect very very expensive, Kids club lacks a little ..... it's quite a walk into kuta, Beautiful gardens and only 2 stories high so not big appartment buildings. I would definatly stay at the Patra again..........

Pros:
Good resort hotel with great garden and fabulous swimming pool
The pool is huge and fantastic with sunken bar, and water sport activities, great for sunbathing as it overlook the Kuta beach.
The room we had is deluxe type with a terrace, small n clean, with balinese atmosphere.
We had a very good quality of sleep while staying in this hotel.
Cons;
1. Location isn't convenient as it's far from tourist attraction area, we have to rent a car / call a cab to get us to good dinings and good beach sand for our kid.
2. It's very close to airport though. (next to airport), but not in a walking distance
3. Perfect for those who wants to spend days just right in the hotel n pools.
4. The sands along the Kuta beach (just back at the hotel) isn't clean. lots of corals/sharp things.
5. Breakfast buffet ends at 10.30 A.M. Too rush for those who wake up late.
6. The housekeeping officer threw away our son's fork when making up the room. he also forgot to lock the terrace door when he's done. Luckily nothing is missing, but few mosquitos came in to the room
hotel was lovely and very quiet even being right next to the airport was not really a problem. they had no adjoining rooms in the deluxe rooms but we were able to upgrade to the presidential suite for a very reasonable price. staff were very friendly and helpful. not a hotel to stay at if you want to be able to walk out to shops and restaurants like legian or kuta but the beach vendors were great. very pleasant and relaxing holiday.
Lovely spacious hotel and facilities with friendly staff. Bit of a hike to get from rooms to pools but they have golf buggies to catch a ride! Great pool for kids (10-12yrs) - not too deep.

Excellent staff, service and security. Location a little bit out of the way however perfect for families or if you want to get away. Good facilities, rooms fairly basic, bathrooms a bit tired, fantastic landscaped gardens. Service really makes this place.

The beach around Tuban & Kuta is...
The beach around Tuban & Kuta is being reclaimed and constant noise from machinery drove us crazy. Got upgraded to the honeymoon villa that overlooks the small pool and almost beachfront. The villa was stunning but the noise was continuous almost 24/7, all day. Staff unconcerned and useless over our concerns of noise, avoid this place for at least next 6 months.

Me and my friend arrived at the Patra on 16.10.2008 at about lunch time, knowing its not the official check in time we were prepared to just hang out at the lobby. But when we approached the reception, they informed us that not only was our room ready but our room have been upgraded to a deluxe suite. The porter was efficient and friendly, showed us to our room and brief us on the room facilities.We went swimming in the hotel pool in the afternoon, we loved the swimming pool cos it was huge - so both of us had our own space - as there was a few families with children also swimming.
The American breakfast in the morning was of normal hotel standards.
Called in for room service for our dinner on one of the evenings, there is a wide selection for the menu for room service.
Was supposed to check out on 19.10.2008 at 12.00 noon, our flight back was only at midnite, plus I had a very bad cold that day, I knew that week was a peak period cos Bali was hosting the Asian Beach Games, but I tried to request for a room extension or a room transfer for at least until late evening. The reception was very helpful and really tried to find another room for me, only that I had to wait a while for them to clean up the room. After lunch my room was ready. The reception also helped me get my flight confirmation cos I was unable to get through the airline directly. The hotel also arranged for my airport transfer. Its also a good location abt 10 minutes to airport, 10 minutes to Discovery Centre (Centro) etc. Was thoroughly happy with my stay.
