The Damai, Bali  

I start off by saying that the hotel has an awesome view. But: For an area where the beach is not really nice, this hotel has a far too small community/pool area. The pool is tiny and there is no way to have some privacy. The rooms are nice but not big and with very small bathroom. For a "gourmet hotel" it is ridiculous that there are no pool snacks available except an utterly overcharged average club sandwich ($10). the eating area does not reflect the bali-typical tastefully decorated atmosphere that you find even in smaller and lower standard places. Food quality varied between excellent and poor, which again doesn't justify the gourmet character of this place. Overall, Damai is a nice hotel, that seeks to offer luxurious standards but fails in comparison with other top hotels on bali. I felt almost cheated by the prices and consider it a complete rip-off of unexperienced western bali-tourists. for the money you get way better hotels, service, luxury and before all atmospher on bali.
