Damai is on top of a hill, away from all the noise. The surrounding is nature, nature and nature. Beautiful villa, clean, ... We wanted to go to the beach: a driver drove us and came to pick us up at the hour we wanted, in an excellent car , all for free. It's not a cheap place, but it is worth the money. The staff + personel are very friendly. The only disatvantage was the food: good, but too expensive for what came on the platter...

Me & my partner stayed for 2 nights at Domai Lovina and absolutely LOVED it! The service is outstanding, the rooms and grounds impecable and the views amazing. The outdoor shower in the villas is the best we've ever used!! The drive from the south of Bali takes a wee while (3 hours max) but it is certainly worth the effort. The food is incredible!!! We would recommend anyone to go, it was a fabulous 2 days and we would definetly go again if we go to Bali again.

We stayed for three days during our holidays in Bali and just loved this place. The rooms are tastefully decorated and very confortable. The shower and jacuzzi in our room were really nice. The pool is great located with views over Lovina sea, very quiet and lovely just to relax between our trips to see around. The Lovina area is very quiet and relaxing too so we just enjoyed the hotel and the spa. Really nice breakfast and one of the best restaurants in Bali, we really loved the dinners. It´s so easy to loose track of time in this hotel, just enjoying your stay by the pool, or by the fire in the night, with one or more of their mojiteas or other cocktail of your choice. The staff is very nice and they facilitated everything we needed. They have a shuttle service which is very useful, since the hotel is 3km from Lovina, up in a mountain which is not a inconvenience but a plus for the hotel. For us is a sure choice to stop and relax during your visit to Bali.

In the trip we made in 3 weeks around Bali, Damai was absolutely the best!. Very good and personal service. Hospitality is an issue for all the personal. For them it's an honour to service in the best way thinkable. Just 8 luxury bungalows with all the privacy and space you need. Quality of food and table service earns very high standard (in European terms Michelin star level). Good for a stay for 3-5 nights. Go for a dive or snorkle tour (arranged via Damai) to the Menjangan island or a trcking through the Bali Barat national Park! Damai has an own shuttle bus to bring you to Lovina. We did out tour driving ourselves by a rented car. Just try it. The traffic likes terrible, but in 3 weeks we saw not any accident!!

When you stay one week you can't find anything new on the menu. You have to start over again after 3 days. It is an exelent hotel but nevertheless to expensive. It has nothing to do with the price level if Indonesia

Well, it sounded fab in the description & gourmet food but it is miles from anywhere!! It is up a long & winding hill & then they charge you for internet & the restaurant serves up mainly euro-style food!! the spices & unique flavours of bali are as amazing as thailand!! indulge in everything local!! There is no telly or radio, but they do have dvds for use. This is strickly for honeymooners in my opinion!! a small pool, pretty grounds & views but limited. I did one of their 'suggested tours' where they provide the driver & this was very enjoyable. Lovina does have some nice restaurants & hotels on the beach!

Maybe I went expecting too much of Damai, but we ended up little bit dissapointed. People was lovely, same as the manager, the food very good, the place quiet and relaxing, but the room need a refurbishment, and it was very difficult for us to sleep one night cause the noise of the wild life. A pleasant stay, but we found better value in Uma Ubud, for example.

This hotel was the best relaxation hotel...
This hotel was the best relaxation hotel me and my wife have ever been too. We have done over 10 different hotels in asia last 5 years and this one takes the price. I do not agree with one of the reviews here regarding the food. Food was fantastic and comparable to all other Super Luxury hotels in Asia (Hyatt Tokyo, Raffles Singapore etc) The staff was very accommodating and actually managed to help us with every demand we had. What some people might see as a negative about this hotel is the hotel tranfser, but we found it pleasant, and the ride gave us a wonderful oppurtunity to see the islands and all it's wonders. We have already booked another stay there for christmas.

Rough guide recommended the restaurant so my...
Rough guide recommended the restaurant so my American husband suggested that we visited it one night and asked the staff as we walked in the lobby if it served a la carte as well on top of the set menu priced at $38 ++ (total about $50) per person.  She said yes.  We found out later they didn't.  So we were stuck with the pricey "gourmet" menu.  Well, I thought, perhaps the taste and quality of the food was worth it.  So we did order for 4 people and my husband and I were very disappointed by the unmatching between price and quality of food and service.  And we couldn't have enjoyed the scenery either because it was dark outside, and there was nothing special about the setting/interior of the restaurant either.  At that time US$ was priced Rp 11,000 in the morning but was closed at Rp 10,250 at the end of the day.  But of course that didn't matter for them, as long as it was to their advantage they pretended they didn't know this and still converted it to Rp 11,000. Overall, it wasn't a pleasant experience.  We could have gone somewhere else for equal or better dining experience for 1/3 or 1/4 of the price.  This place, at least the restaurant, should be avoided at all costs.  There is no need to charge in US$ to begin with when all of their expenses are in rupiah for one thing.  Snobs would perhaps justify this discrepancy the way an Australian couple next to our table behaved (they stared at us because my parents and I are Indonesian). Lesson learned: never trust any establishment that charges in US$ other than for their rooms and we found out that the best dining experience we had in Lovina (and Bali overall) on this visit was a modest seafood restaurant named "Lian" on the main road.  For 5 people we were served various delicious fish/seafood, vegetables, chicken, pork dishes for only $266,000 (about $26).  My husband unch before we went back to Ubud.
