Cooling Oasis
We found the Mentari to be a beautiful little hotel somewhat dauntingly nestled down a grubby alley. The gardens are well maintained and very attractive. Our room looked out to the well kept pool and had a lovely sitting area out the front. All staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast included with the room was adequate and included beautiful fresh fruit, coffee, juices, then your choice of Nasi Goreng, Bacon, Sausages and eggs, French toast etc. The bed was huge and comfortable. A/C a little noisy. TV channel selection not worth the worry. A friendly atmosphere allowed us to meet other guests with ease. The location was close to the beach (down the road and turn Right ) where there were Kms of beachfront shops and restaurants. A $1.50 taxi ride into the heart of Sanur for more restaurants, tailors and shopping. Sanur is a great place to depart for day excursions as it takes hours off a hotel pick up over Nusa Dua or Kuta. We were able to pay for our room with a credit card without any problem. One quest we spoke to had been on several horse riding trips arranged for him at reception. We booked a couple of excursions at the front desk with no extra fees involved. Overall we were extremely happy with this clean, relaxed, friendly and charming hotel.

A quite spot in Sanur
The staff it's very friendly and the hotel it's quite and clean. The pool it's great and the garden it's really well maintained! The only no are the restaurant ( not good with a very poor menu) and the TV that has no one international channel! Only Indonesian... We are happy with our stay.

Adequate, But Not Memorable
We booked this room through LateRooms.com. The full rate is supposedly $120.00US per night. We paid a total of $65.00 and that included breakfast.
The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. At the (supposedly) reduced rate of $65.00 it was okay, but we still felt the price was a little on the high side, for what is offered. Had we paid the full rate of $120.00US we would not have been happy. W were astounded that the room did not come equipped with a hair dryer or shampoo. When I called down to inquire about shampoo I was told it was not provided. I have been traveling for more than 30 years, have never stayed in a hotel room priced over $50.00/night that did not provide shampoo and a hair dryer.
We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant, since it was raining heavily. The staff were lovely. We had the prawn salad, which was delicious. The steak was another story. It was as tough as shoe leather, and didn't taste any better.
The breakfast (included in the room rate) was excellent. All of the food was fresh and hot. We were impressed.
We booked the hotel taxi service to take us to the airport. We were told 45 minutes, and it actually took only 25. I'm sure that there are times of the day when it could take 45, so better to be early than late. I was a little surprised that the driver simply put my luggage on the road and did not offer to find me a luggage trolley. Very unusual, since Balinese drivers are generally very helpful. At 125,000 rupiah I would say that the price of the taxi service is highly inflated.
My friend was leaving on a later flight and the front desk clerk did tell her that she could stay in the room until 1:00pm. without an extra charge. She was very pleased about that.
I think there is probably comparable accommodation in the Sanur area that is much cheaper than this property.

We stayed in Sanur for 2 nights...
We stayed in Sanur for 2 nights at the end of our family Bali adventure, having stayed in Legian and Ubud. The hotel is good value, apart from $US30 surcharge for an extra bed in room, which is the most expensive we have been charged. Otherwise the place was clean, quiet, rooms good size, pool excellent, breakfast and meals in restaurant excellent, service also very good. I guess the only real negative is location, as it is in the northern extremity of Sanur, so quite a way from the main areas with restaurants and shops. The beach, is however only a short 400m walk away and a lot of the the boats to the islands leave here.

Our stay in the Mentari was lovely, It was a private location in a quiet area not far from the beach. The pool area was great for chilling out, the staff were friendly & helpful & service good. An older style small hotel but for the price was very good. We are planning to go back next year.

We enjoyed our stay at Mantari hotel. It has a beautifull garden and a nice swimmingpool. The location is a little bit far from the city and the beach restaurants.

excellent service from airport pickup to return...
excellent service from airport pickup to return to airport, the staff were great and considered all our needs, they were polite, efficient and very caring to all our needs. Everythink from start to finish was perfect, the staff moved us from our room as they felt the aircon was not working as efficiently as it could, we had not noticed any difference but they had. Every morning smiling faces greeted you at breakfast regardless of the rain. They have nothing but ask for nothing they really make you feel humble. We really enjoyed our experience here which was our second visit and we would go again at the drop of a hat.

Hotel is old, the lowest among the...
Hotel is old, the lowest among the hotels where we stayed. Equipment, AC are rusty and out of age, the "king size" bed is made from 2 beds juxtaposed. The hotel is built around a garden in T, the pool is at the junction. Garden rooms are located in the vertical portion of the T, there is no need to rent more expensive room overlooking pool. Finally, there was a building under construction behind the hotel but problem with noise... The pictures do not represent the reality. Side site, no interest, there's nothing to see, the beach is far and no interest. You'd better go to Kuta, Dempassar or further north towards Amed. Many other places so much more beautyfull and interesting to visit.

We only stayed at the Mentari Hotel...
We only stayed at the Mentari Hotel for one night and arrived at 10.30 pm so we didn't really get to experience it properly. However the staff were welcoming and helpful and the room was large and clean, if a little bare. The pool looked nice although a bit cramped. Breakfast was nice - you could have the standard nasi goreng (fried rice) or mie goreng (noodles) or order a western breakfast of eggs, bacon etc. It is located in the north of Sanur so not that near all the main restaurants and shops, however it was very convenient for us as we were getting the boat to Nusa Lembongan which leaves from a hotel which is practically next door. My only reservation about the hotel is the fact that there is a lot of vegetation. While this looks nice it is a bit of a magnet for mosquitos.
