Overbooked hotel & bad service....
Overbooked hotel & bad service.
On arrival we have received the keys...
On arrival we have received the keys to completely different rooms that we have booked (room upstairs don't have the walls).
There was a big French group making a lot of noise and we were not even able to have a dinner i the restaurant.
On the day when we had to leave at 07:00am we have ordered take-away breakfast for 06:45am which was not ready till 07:15.

I stayed with my peruvian wife and my 6 year old sohn for 5 days in this hotel. There was really nice. The place was so relaxing and enchanting. The breakfast was nice, in the first two days we had ala carte and then after that only buffet + fresh rambutan and manggo fruits (hmm yummy). Our airconditioned oversized room was so lovely and had nice verandah overlooking palm trees and pool (upgraded - thanks much!!). I also saw 3 other families staying here with small children, they all were very happy indeed. The hotel guests were very international, american, australian, french, peruvian, spanish, japanese, russian, and indonesian. So we love this hotel and we will for sure come back again. However this hotel is not suitable for hygienic freaker or modern freaker or something like that, because here is so nature and tranquil and only for people who like nature and remains for that.

Very nice swimming pool, careful service but a bit expensive. Walls are too thin between the rooms.
I have stayed at Ananda several times...
I have stayed at Ananda several times and each has given me a different experience. The rooms are fantastic, I love sitting out the front on the couches and chairs relaxing after hiking through Ubud all day. The jungle of banana trees, rice fields, ducks and traditional styled door carvings of room entrances add to the atmosphere. The additional pools are clean, I like the horizon pool over the fields. This last visit the rice fields amongst the cottages was being prepared for planting I was initially disappointed that it was not a field of high rice plants but seeing the preparation and watching the ducks swim around made me see the cycle of rice planting, it is this experience of being in a working villa that I like so much.

as a frequent traveller to bali, i enjoy trying out diffferent hotels. ananda was lovely, but it was rather old! two years ago i visited it and it wasn't that bad...

My family (4 persons) staid for two...
My family (4 persons) staid for two nights at this hotel. We really liked the location and the room was good. The breakfast was also good. Staff is very friendly and they organized all the yoga,dancing, cooking classes and the massage spa. The hotel is 15 minutes from Ubud centre. There is no public transport besides the inevitable persons in front of the hotel offering you their negotiable fare. So this is a bit problematic. There are many hotels in and around Ubud, so if you are adventureous would you spend two times in the same hotel?
