This is a great resort. Very friendly...
This is a great resort. Very friendly staff. The location doesn't allow you to walk to Ubud main shopping/restaurant area and that is why the hotel offers a flexible shuttle service free-of-charge. At Arma guests are invited to learn more about Bali and the Balinese crafts or Balinese kitchen. The hotel organises workshops to that purpose. Those are not cheap but we registered for a few and can only recommend for you to do the same.

The Service was fantastic and the standard rooms basic but clean aircon and large with private outside area. The facilities were fantastic and the breakfast were very good. Loved the gardens and neighbouring rice paddies and the balinese dancing!

Arma Resort are more cultural rich in term of architectural Design. We are staying at the Villa and the location of villa just beside the "Padi" (Rice) field is wonderful, especially with private pool facilities and a elevated tea pavilion. What we have reserve is the service where initailly we were asked to stay in the Delux room with fan only (aircon break down and all others room fully occupied except villa)and refuse to up grade us. Eventhough they finally up grade our room but the impression was not good. Breakfast is also dissappointed.

What a magical place to stay. ...
What a magical place to stay. It was wonderful to be on the grounds of the musuem and to be able to see the artists practice and the performances in the evening. The only recommendation I would make to others would be to stay in a higher grade of room. We stayed in the standard room and it was pretty basic and I was disappointed. However, they did accomodate our need for a third bed and a cot for our baby, but it was very crowded. On our last night we had an infestation of bugs - they were everywhere and it was absolutely disgusting. The staff did try and get them out, with little success, and we spent most of the night awake. It is difficult to control nature; however, they need to address the bugs that come during the rainy season. Also, the lighting on the grounds of the museum is very poor and it is difficult to safely find your way back to your room at night - bring a torch!

Unfortunately we had day tours booked for the nights we stayed, so we missed a lot of the experience of staying in this magical location. So we'll definitely return to Bali just to stay at the Arma Resort. We'd love to do the morning exercusion through the villages and rice paddies next time. The resort itself is very beautiful and has been designed with much detail and great love for its environment. Every corner you turn there's something of beauty.

Although you could stay at the resort...
Although you could stay at the resort all day with all the activities available there is a shuttle into town that's free several times a day or for a tiny price (~10000rp or AUD $1.42) at call. Pick up for the same price anywhere and anytime you want it - just call. The staff were so helpful, friendly and kind. The museum (free for resort guests)is huge and amongst the rare examples of traditional Balinese as well as historical European resident art you can watch local children learning Balinese Dancing. The museum and resort owners also have an incredible gallery close by with 7 display rooms full of beautiful Balinese art and woodcarvings to take home. In the golden hour tour I saw parts of Bali that in several trips I had not yet seen. We lived in beautiful private serene surroundings overlooking the river, with 2 private balconies to choose different views from. Our welcome note was written on the petals of a frangipani. Thanks Arma and asiarooms, Sue Nightingale

Don't Miss This One -not a resort,...
Don't Miss This One -not a resort, but a spiritual and cultural experience. Thankyou Asia rooms so much for introducing us to Arma resort. We stayed for prices less than a quarter of the people in the next room. We loved all of the culture courses we tried - cooking, music, bali dancing, batik, woodcarving& more that weren't described on the internet: If you have a class, they'll help you practice for days afterward. Don't miss the Golden hour tour you'll see things that no other tourist sees. Our toilet was bigger than my bedroom at home and the bathroom was the size of my loungeroom. The bedroom of course was huge. We had two private balconies, and a private entrance, and the villas they offer are even more impressive than our deluxe room. This resort has space to explore and an incredible museum, in which the owner's personal collection of resident artists works from all over the world illustrate the influence of european artists living in Bali for the last 100 years. The food is amazing in all four venues on the property and Mrs Agung's cooking course was fun and incredibly informative. Himself an artist, Mr Agung Rei have done incredible things for Bali with the proceeds of this Resort. Local children are trained for free in traditional dancing at his museum, and while we were there the ARMA museum facilitated the free dental treatment of over 2000 Balinese by a team of 30 Singaporean dentists who stayed and ate as guests of Arma resort. Thankyou again Mr Agung Rei and AsiaRooms
