Great stay in Ubud
They upgraded our stay and were very accommodating. If you like a place with character that has a deep beauty, this is for you. It has seen better days, but you get allot for your money.

Very beautiful, interesting place - shame about the construction works
This is a great place to take little kids with an imagination. It's not really targeting families as such, but as everywhere in Bali my 21/2 year old girl was very welcome and she loved the grounds of the resort and museum. It is full of statues, streams, stairs, fountains and fish ponds. Local kids have their music and dancing lessons in the museum grounds and you can watch. My girl even liked the museum, lots of the paintings are full of gods and demons, things kids love. The breakfast is great and we also went to one of their weekly cultural performances and it was fantastic. Our only disappointment was that they are currently (June 2011) doing some major renovation and between all that banging and coming and going, and preparations for a major event at the museum, it wasn't the peaceful retreat from the hectic streets of Ubud that we were hoping for. But otherwise, a great place that I would recommend.

Sehr schoen! Ansonsten grosse, weitraeumige Gartenanlage. Gratis Shuttle ins Zentrum, da etwas abgelegen. Hilfsbereites, freundliches Personal.

Paradise
Om Shwasiastu!
Because of the varied reviews we decided to book for 5 of the 10 of our nights in Bali and move to Nusa Dua to finish our holiday. After the first night we canceled the second leg and stay at Arma.
A truly amazing place!! if you want a 5 star hotel room with no character this isn't the place for you.
Beautiful gardens, fountains, ponds, flowers and cultural statues throughout the huge gardens. The 2 restaurants presented first class food with service you could not fault. Agung Rai who turned a dream into reality, you are a genius. We have traveled throughout the world and stayed in exclusive accommodation but the Arma has to be seen to be believed.
We will be back, Suksma

We stayed at the Arma resort in...
We stayed at the Arma resort in Ubud for 1 night and were overwhelmingly surprised to arrive and find not just an ordinary hotel bedroom but a sprawling series of chambers in rustic Balinese style. There was easily enough daybeds to accommodate 5 people, and we were blown away at the luxurious finishes and detail. While it is amazing value for the size of the suite, we were directly adjacent to the river and the roof opened to the outside so in some cases the noise could potentially be a complaint but as it was only 1 night it was fine. The provided towels also seemed very small and a bit threadbare, we also noticed a few stains on the linens and some small lizard droppings around (unavoidable given the nature of the room). The estate itself is totally gorgeous and lush with statues and water features. The staff were very friendly and eager to help us. The included breakfast left a little to be desired (watch out for the fruit plates covered in flies), but you can also stroll up the hill to the Cafe past the museum to eat. Yes there is an art museum on the grounds and there are so many activities on offer that you may want to stay as long as you can to get to experience everything if that is something you're looking for. We chose to take the scheduled shuttle in to Ubud and found the shops, temples, market, art and dining truly brilliant and appealing. Hope to absolutely be back in the future to take in more of the beauty and hospitality that is Arma Resort.

ARMA Resort was an amazing experience for...
ARMA Resort was an amazing experience for us, that started with the open air reception desk at our arrival, where we were greeted warmly and with great courtesy. The room turned out to be amazing (note: we decided to spend a little more and get one of the villas - a great choice, as it turned out). We enjoyed our stay greatly, and we would certainly consider ARMA again if we return to Ubud. Plus: Large room with tasteful furniture, great bathroom and open-air shower, plus a huge bathtub. The outdoor pool was larger than anticipated; breakfast was served in our private poolside pavilion. Our villa was in a corner of the large and park like property, protected from the view of others, overlooking the rice fields. Location: about 20 mins. walk from central Ubud, still manageable, and away from the more noisy areas. Hotel provides free shuttles and cheap taxis to central Ubud. Minus: Ants (veranda, bathroom, poolside pavilion) & mosquitoes (everywhere) - but then, can you complain about that? We enjoyed living literally among the natural charms of central Bali, so the fauna may be just part of the package... That disco across the rice field that blasted their live band on Sat evening - no way to sleep until 3 am. That was the only really annoying aspect of our stay. Sum: Great place, spend a little more for the villas - we'll certainly do if we're back!

Arma is stunning....a new view awaits you...
Arma is stunning....a new view awaits you around each corner of the grounds. You could spend an hour just strolling around, exploring the museum (on the grounds), checking out the water features (pools, creeks), or just appreciating the beautiful details (hand made soap, shampoo in little ceramic corked containers, antique-looking kleenex box holders). THe service is amazing - the staff will help with anything you need. A really special, tranquil, amazing place.

We stayed at one of the eight...
We stayed at one of the eight superior villas "Villa Saren" which had its own little courtyard, a beautiful well appointed villa with its own little elevated free standing pergola, not to mention the private pool (which we used four to five times a day including a couple of dips at night), a gorgeous spacious indoor/outdoor bathroom faciity with a separate outdoor shower contained within an enclosed private courtyard. The staff were very helpful, polite and cheeful at all times and we found the grounds, the gardens and the surrounding rice fields an oasis after exploring the streets of Ubud. The cultural offerings of this resort needs to be mentioned, in the two museums, one historical and the other contemporary, as well as the daily performances of cultural dances, shows and live theatre held at their open theatre on the grounds. My husband and I both did a couple of Balinese classes, I did the Balinese cooking class (thanks Agung Puspawati you're a gem!)and my husband did the Balinese Architecture one. We both came away with something lasting of our holiday which we will utilise and refer to, long after leaving Bali. I would like to recommend Agung Rai's (Founder of ARMA) Golden Hour tour - it was well worth getting up at 5.30am in the morning and a privilege to share his genuine passion for his island, his people and his culture. Needless to say, I am already planning our return trip to ARMA and inviting all our friends to come along for a unique, relaxing and enriching holiday.
