Choose a different location for the price, trust me ! This hotel is about a 25 minute walk from central Ubud, and there isn't very much to see near this hotel aside from the youth painting galleries. It is quite old and there isn't anything special here aside from the staff. The staff is incredibly helpful but what really makes this hotel painful, and especially at this price - is the bathroom. All of the bathrooms are in open areas outside. All of them. I've traveled throughout Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Japan, and parts of Indonesia and I usually book hotels around this rate; I've never been to a hotel with bathrooms outside ! This is a catastrophe on the parts of the hotel owners !!! We were "upgraded" to a 2 storey room upon arrival, and in the outdoor bathroom area, the toilet seemed to just pop out of the ground: no roof, no walls, just a toilet out in the open with 2 storey rooms surrounding you. The showers are the same. After staying at many incredible hotels during our 9 day stay, my wife was very angry and frightened to use the restroom. People could be taking pictures, filming you, etc... it's unbelievably horrendous. I complained heavily in the second morning and the staff quickly switched us to a different room where the bathroom was still outside but luckily had pieces of straw roofing surrounding the toilet/shower area. But it's still disgusting... Our room was located next to the open-air restaurant, so everyone is listening as you use the shower or toilet... absolutely no privacy. For the staff - I would stay at this hotel in a heartbeat, but given the bizarre treatment for restrooms, I would choose a different location.

Staff were very attentive, polite and helpful. The free pick up and drop-off service around town was great, we got an Indonesian sim card for our cell phone and called when we needed a pick up from town.
The room itself was a bit stuffy with only one window opening, not everyone wants to sleep in air-con.
Suggest that opening windows and fans should also be in the room, most of the year Ubud is cool enough not to need aircon.
Breakfasts were included and good.
Free rice field tour provided by hotel very enjoyable and informative.
A few suggestions, tea and cofee making facilities in the room would be great, the villa had a kitchen outside but it was unused, an electric jug would solve this.
Wi-Fi would be useful in the hotel, Murnis Warung 5 minutes walk down the hill has free wi-fi though.
The pavilion outside the villa could do with some larger pillows.

Room was small. No TV. Mozzie coil provided. Villas are not shelter from lobby. Bring umbrella. Stone path might be hard to walk for seniors.
On the whole. If you want reasonable price, and quite location, with a slow pace. This is good.
But not a whole lot of comfort besides a good bed and toilet.
Breakfast was slow in coming, but not mass produced.

A great hotel with very personal and warm service. The location is quite good and getting to Ubud is very easy with the shuttle. The spa is also very well run. It is also a perfect choice for art lovers due to its location and the hotel's links to some museums.
