Beautiful rooms nested along a tropical pond. However, I would say that the price is somewhat too expensive. We have seen other hotels as beautiful as this one, but at half that price.

With our two small children, we spent 4 nights at the Watergarden. We appreciated the friendly and helpful staff that even thought to install reelings in front of the room so our little ones wouldn't fall into the water ponds. The veranda roof needs renovation, as the heavy rains dipped through and wetted the floor in front of the bungalow. Despite the hotels situation at the main road, the rooms are reasonably quiet to guarantee a peaceful sleep. The restaurant is maybe a bit expensive for what you get, but overall, we enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

The Water Garden in Candi Dasa is...
The Water Garden in Candi Dasa is a total delight. No TV but far from the madding crowd. The rooms are simple but comfortable. Be sure that your room includes a fridge as the standard room does not -- the only distinction from a deluxe room. The restaurant has an outstanding menu of consistently good quality. I only hope that it will not be replaced by German cuisine as it may not appeal to all. Some of the German dishes I tried were too salty for my taste. New GM, Harold, is adding his personal touches. WG can not be faulted and the staff are all treasures! I try to get there evry year to recharge my batteries. I can highly recommend the massage ladies, too. The pool is superb.

we really enjoyed our stay at The Watergardens. The staff was so friendly and the service was excellent. the only thing that spoiled our stay was the manger, not Balinese, who treated the staff like second grade people and reprimanded them in front of guests when there was nothing wrong with their service or attitude.

The best feature of this hotel is...
The best feature of this hotel is that every room has a wide veranda-style porch that fronts on a lucious tropical water garden filled with dozens of large and colorful koi. You might think that being in such close proximity to water in the tropics would breed mosquitos but that wasn't the case. My theory is that the koi feed off of the larvae keeping the mosquito population in check. Our room included open beam ceilings, AC, a large ceiling fan, a four post bed with netting and an in-room safe. My wife and I also enjoyed the social ambiance of the Watergarden's health-conscious restaurant. Couples wishing for a more intimate experience could have meals delivered to their rooms. The hotel sponsored a number of short day trips. We took the Eastern Bali car tour and a morning hike through the country past hillside rice terraces and small villages. The staff was universally friendly. The biggest negative is that the hotel is not right on the beach but, overall, I thought that it was good value.
