This is a nice place for people/...
This is a nice place for people/ couples who are looking for a quiet or romantic getaway.
The villas are set back to back in a quiet street in the little box of Jln Laksmana/ Jln Raya Seminyak/ Jln Dhyana Pura so you get a good amount of privacy even from your Uma Sapna 'neighbours'. We stayed for 3 nights between Xmas and New Year. Although this week was considered one of Bali's busiest due to Xmas, Hari Raya Haji and New Year coinciding in the same period and the place was fully booked (even the spacious and lovely but expensive 3 bedroom 'bungalow' villa was booked!), the staff was always gracious, helpful and available.
2 examples: The reception was manned till late at night and we could just walk in past 10pm and someone would be there to attend patiently to our whimsical needs for the night/ next day. Also, on our last day there, 2 events impressed us. Note as you read on - we had checked out in the morning so technically, were no longer guests. Event 1: my wife had a less than satisfactory massage at a highly recommended spa (on travel forums) down the road which left her feeling more sore than relaxed. The in-house masseurs immediately accommodated her for a 30mins back and shoulder massage which incidentally, is not on their menu. Note - the masseur who attended to her had actually given up her break in between clients. Event 2: We realised we were short on presents and had to get back to the shops ASAP before getting to the airport. Instead of calling for a cab, the recep got an available hotel driver to send us to the nearest shopping spot, this despite having to risk the 4-6pm traffic jam outside.
Overall, the facilities and villas are cleaned daily though maybe small if you are into big, wide spaces. Guess it's partly because the property is actually split into two by a small lane used by locals living next to the property. A few pluses - free airport transfers, free shuttle to the most popular beaches as far as Sanur (20-30 mins away!), good masseurs, nice environment at in-house spa (hopefully they will hire more than current 2) which is reasonably priced for this kind of establishment, near eateries on Jln Laksmana and Ku De Ta/ Paul's Place and our favourite - away from the Kuta crowd. Minuses - small Jln. Drupadi is not pedestrian friendly and looks partially 'developed' - cab fares are cheap - max. 20K rupiah to Kuta but do take the free shuttle. Also, this place is a little far from walkable/ main shopping area of Seminyak if you are walking. Hence our low recommendation for families, esp. young kids.
Final summing up: This place or at least its spa, is definitely on our to-do list for future Bali breaks.
