The Suly was very accommodating. Our rooms were better than we expected. The staff were super friendly and efficient. The setting of this resort is very tranquil and picturesque. The gardens are beautifully presented and maintained. We found our 4 day stay there very relaxing as you would expect of a mountain retreat in Ubud. We arrived after a 6 hour flight at 1.00 am in the morning and our transfer pickup from the airport was punctual. At arrival at the Suly at 2.00 am, we were taken straight to our rooms and asked to register later in the morning after a rest. The free shuttle service to and from town (4 per day) was terrific as was the free 1 hour yoga sessions each morning. There were no unexpected charges and our room rate quoted on Asia.Rooms.com was honoured at checkout without question. We would highly recommend the Suly to any travellers to Ubud. We only wish we had more time there to see more of the surrounding areas. We will definitely stay at The Suly when we next visit Ubud.
Not Acceptable
This place is simply not acceptable. The only people you see around are children a person from the staff told me that thay are a school of tourism and the children are learning and are 16-18, but to me it seemed that the children were 12 and did absolutely everything (cleaning, front desk, security, restaurant, even the spa,...)
this leads to some bad service. The children understand very little english, are not able to privide basic information, having a girl saying 'i'm trying to do a massage' in the spa ecc ecc...
tv has only local channels, so not very useful...
the hotel is located in mas and not in ubud, so it takes 15 minutes by car to get to the center. The complimentary shuttle service is not frequent and is difficult to find the car in the center, so you have to hire a taxi from ubud to the hotel. We also found a guide that for 400.000 idr took us for a full day trip around ubud.
overall you can find much better location, much better price and much more acceptable place. Very negative.

Friendly resort
Suly Resort is run by young people and students of the school at Suly and they really try hard to make you feel welcome. The place is somewhat oldfashioned (old swimming pool, the rooms are a bit worn out, though clean), but with all the temples and gardens it is a nice place to stay.
We had lunch at the resort and that was very good.
We were invited into the school and tell about our country in the classroom, which made our stay special.
Although it is not up to the standard resorts, we liked the place very much and would love to come back there.

Like to go there when fixed up
The concept of the Suly is great in principal but we did'nt see any of the advertized things to do offered to us But I am sure they will improve.the staff all young are wonderful and the food was A1+ worth a stop even just to eat the Pool along with the whole Resort will be better when repairs and renovations are complete would stay there again for sure
Not bad, but Ubud has much better
Its a run down place managed by students and undergoing renovation. Rooms look great but its clear the hey days of this place are behind it. The service is just about fine, since its a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth (you'll see 25-35 students walking around the place with almost nothing to do!).
The food though has to be the lowest part of the experience - I know one might argue its under renovation but the food should be better!
Overall, it might be lower priced that many other places in Ubud, but a few more $s should def get you a better experience.
Awesome experience
I don't want to write much because all the good reviews I read were all true. Go ahead and book the place and you will never regret.
I am so disappointed with this resort due to below problem,
- bad smell at room,
- no choice of breakfast meal (limited people with one person with two egg),
- unfriendly service to Malaysian,
- dirty of blanket and bed cover.

Warm Staff. Quiet Environment. But a bit far away from Ubud Town and Very near to Ibu Oka (place to have roasted pig/Babi Guling)- it is just opposite road of Suly Resort.

The hôtel looks old-fashioned, the buildings need refurbishment, rooms very dark. Positive points: staff very friendly, possibilities to participate in some activities (local art, yoga, etc...). Swimming pool with nice view over rice fields and nice quiet garden.

The level of professionalism is grown at Suly it seems because upon arrival we found the staff to be very competant in their jobs, also the service was extremely welcoming and polite. It our stay in Suly very comfortable and relaxing. Visitors can expect a mixture of old and new at this hotel/resort. For myself and my wife we enjoyed the spacious gardens and sorenity. After talking with the kind manager on our last day there we come to learn that Suly provides free education and training in hospitality to under priverlaged children. We were so happy to learn they were being provided with job training and education that we would gladly stay there again, and they were a really friendly happy bunch of kids that made us proud we were able to support this foundation.
