The Rumah Bali is a great little...
The Rumah Bali is a great little place to stay - providing you know what you letting yourself in for.
This isn't one of the large, grandiose Hotels that you find aplenty in Nusa Dua; but rather a small villa type complex set in beautiful gardens which has a maximum capacity for approx 40 guests and therefore able to offer a very relaxed, informal atmosphere.
Most of this you will probably have gathered from the pictures and the setting doesn't disappoint. However one thing we didn't realise when booking is that the bathroom which is situated on the back of the apartment is exposed to a small, private and high walled back garden out the back with effectively most of the rear wall missing between the bathroom and the garden. This is great if you fancy a sort of "I'm a celebrity....." style experience, which you will get given the beautiful bath / shower doesn't have a shower curtain to offer added privacy.
One side effect of the open bathroom though was to have a number of unwelcome guests make there way in from the garden. A number of times I had to evict frogs or 10" gecko's from the bathroom as the wife refused to go in there. Additionally mosquitoes often found there way from the bathroom into the bedroom, so ensure you use the nets around the bed when you sleep. They don't completely keep the mozzies out (perhaps they were already in) but it helps prevent a snack turning into a banquet.
The one aspect of our stay that really wasn't up to par was the overall cleanliness. While they do clean the rooms daily and provide clean towels etc, they only change the bed sheets every 3 days unless asked and we had big problems getting them to empty the bathroom bins which were essential given sanitary towels had been tidily disposed in them. In fact they seemed to purposefully ignore them and not provide sanitary bags- perhaps we used the wrong bin (?)
Other than that there was general lack of cleanliness on most of the walls, furniture and other soft furnishings: some of the changed beddings had old stains that hadn't been completely removed or had holes in. Additionally there were plenty of squished mozzies on the nets and walls around the room - no doubt from previous bug hunters but nevertheless an unwelcome sight.
As a honey moon couple, not much effort was made with room presentation after room cleaning like fancy flowers on the bed as they are lots in Bali to chose from.
Of course, as mentioned, if you already know all of this then your expectations will be met and you'll likely have a great time at the Rumah Bali. In all other respects its a great place to stay, the staff are friendly and attentive all surrounded by fantastic, well maintained grounds which truly gives you a taste of paradise.
