North Coast Gem
I was looking for a quiet, beachfront hotel away from the crowds of southern Bali to unwind for a few days at the end of long, active vacation on several of Indonesia's islands and I found it.
Owners Gus and Sandy keep a close eye on operations ensuring everything works, is sparkling clean and that their restaurant keeps its billing as the best in the area. They join their guests for meals.
The reading room above the restaurant is a treasure with ocean views and breezes, comfortable chairs and no access to the beach vendors. There are not a lot of vendors here.
The small fishing village 50 meters up the beach was a pleasant surprise. It was good not to be isolated from Balinese life.
Gus takes guests on tour to the nearby towns of Singaraja and Lovina and introduces you locals walking by on the beach or who drop by the restaurant to eat. Longer tours can be arranged at very competitive rates. Their favoured supplier Leo is an excellent driver and guide.
I left fortified for the long return flights to Canada and feeling that I had become a member of the community.

... "compulsary" tipping
the villa has only 4 rooms, with a swimming pool. We had our dinner in the villa due to heavy rain, so food served were not bad, still acceptable.
For the room condition, it is a bit 'old' and so as the air-cond. However, everything still functioning correctly. as overall, it still acceptable.
However, the staff did not return the balance when we settle the bill. When we asked about the balance, she just answered "balance tipping box". We were speechless, and just grab the receipt and left the villa. So, my recommendation--- just give exact amount of your bill..

My Partner and I have no complaints at all.
In fact, we would like to thank both Sandy and Gus and Nyoman and the staff at Villa Agung in north bali for the best memories of bali and a further review will be posted to tripadvisor and bali forums.

The inn is under renovation, you do not want to stay at the hotel. May be now is low season, only one room of our stay at the hotel, very very dark & quiet at night. No any other shops & restaurents nearby, you would better to have a car & dine in the center of Lovina beach. The worst is that no wifi or internet can be used.

Une nuit, en transit. Hotel tenu par un americain sympa.nous etions dans une chambre a l'etage, tres confortable et bien equipe (frigo, bouilloire avec the et cafe).la salle de bain est originale. Le balcon donne sur la mer et est equipe d'une douillette banquette.la cuisine est de qualite, le petit dejeuner est bon et copieux. Le restaurant donne sur la plage, ainsi que le bar. Nous avons tres tres bien dormit car eloigne du trafic.

We booked through AsiaRooms a bungalow for 3 pers.. But we couldn't find any bungalows there. Very small place, very small pool.
The room we finally got was large but in the owner's house, which was not very comfortable for us.
The location of the restaurant is very nice, just beside the beach.
The place is quite faraway from the main village of Lovina.
