Average.
I would generally say that you get what you pay for but in this instance i really don't think that it was value for money. I have been travelling to Bali for the past 25 years, this was approximately my 20th visit and probbaly the 10th time i have stayed at Jayakarta. In the past 15 years that i have been staying at this hotel i seriously dont think there has been any form of upgrading to the hotel or the rooms at all. They are very dated, very small (1 bedroom apartment) and the decor is pretty sub standard and far below average for a Balinese hotel.
Check in is late - 3pm, upon arrival we expected a baby cot in our room, a fold out sofa and a king bed. We were a little suprised to find no cot (additional $10 USD per night - this wasnt advertised) the sofa bed that is supposed to sleep 2 adults was really only good for our 3 year old, and it was horribly uncomfortable. The hot water was attroocious, the air con constantly leaked, there were cigarette butts under the vanity in the bathroom (from previous guests i assume), the balcomy cannt even fit 2 chairs, there are no safety deposit boxes in the rooms nor in the building, everyday we had to ask for 4 towels rather than the 2 they gave us, there were no blankets on the bed- just one single sheet, the television reception was terrible and the light fittings in the bathroom leaked down into the bath. We actually complained about the first room we were given because no hot water at all- literally you would turn on the tap and no water came out. We were then moved into another room, which had hot water but still no better than the first room.
The saving grace for Jayakarta has always been location- its amazing and great for families and great for children. Having said that the location is no longer a good enough reason to stay there. For the same money you can get a far nicer room elsewhere.
Disappointing.
