Bali experience away from beaches and tourists
We recommend this resort if you enjoy a serene quiet retreat close to mountains volcanoes lakes temples and Balinese Hindu culture.
the shuttle service was good, and they also provided good day trips.

such a shame!!
when we arrived at Raffles in the taxi- the driver laughed and asked if we were sure we wanted to stay- we should have listened!!! we were supposed to be there for 6 nights- stayed for one (begrudgingly!) and that involved being fully clothed sitting on top of the filthy bed covers watching giant cockroaches crawl across the floor!!
this place was absolutely filthy. such a shame as the location could have been wonderful, a lot of potential, but the staff (who had only recently taken over) clearly have no idea about running a business and cleaning! the fridge in the room absolutely stunk, even with the door shut and when we dared to open it, it was FULL of dead insects! and mould.
i have nothing against outdoor bathrooms and fully understand that in this sort of location there will be insects, but to find dead partially rotten cockroaches, a dirty unflushed toilet and another guest's disusting shampoo sachets on the floor is just not acceptable
when we asked what was going on- we were advised that they had taken over 6 months ago and had not got round to doing anything to place yet!! the photos etc, were from when the last owners had it so they are in no way reflective of what is there now- a stagnant pool, filthy restaurant, no access to bottled water and FILTHY rooms.
i feel bad for leaving this review as the staff were really nice- bus this is the worst place i have ever had to stay!
don't do it!!!

disappointing experience
the hotel is in a very bad condition, especially from the outside, there were no garden works done or ways cleaned to the rooms. we got an upgrade, cause our room was already booked from someone else, so we had a whirlpool, the problem was just, that we had never warm or hot water to fill this pool. the stuff tries to get hot water with a little gas cooker under a bowl, and this never worked. in addition we never had internet, cause the modem they gave us never worked and nobody was able or willing to help us. we ate there just one time, and the food was not good, we could eat it, but it was the worst food we ever had in our trip in Bali. it was also never possible to talk to the manager, because he was not available, we could just talk to the staff, which were a few young untrained guys without any knowledge about hospitality. in conclusion I was really disappointed about this stay and I would never recommend this hotel to any other guest, because you can get so many other very nice accommodations for less money in Bali.

Private villa with an affordable budget
We reached Raffles Holiday Hotel at the end of our journey for the day. We were whisked into the Villa upon arrival without even having to step into the lobby to do the check-in as it was done in the villa itself. We got ourselves a private villa which came with 3 rooms, that could fit 7 pax comfortably. It was really huge! The girls really took care of our request. One thing though, I guess the roof need some repairs as small leafs were constantly dropping.

Friendly staff & excellent environment
Friendly staff, like the environment very much! My whole room is made of wood! Cool! Just need to maintain the area for as grass in growing... abit far away from Ubud town... Great breakfast~! Local Bali breakfast dishes! Recommended to all!

Closest to the nature
I had a very pleasant stay mostly due to the extreme friendliness and hospitality of the staff. They are full of surprises to make you feel comfortable and happy, in a way that I haven't experienced before. Leaving the hotel is like leaving your friend or family's villa. .
Hotel is located 30-40 minutes from Ubud. they have a free shuttle 4 times a day, but I don't understand why they charged us around USD$7 to pick us up on our arrival to Ubud on the first day. That should be a service that hotel should provide to the guests as it is located so far from the city. Hotel has 6 rooms only, so you get a feeling of living in a private villa in the middle of coconut, banana, avocado trees, and you can hear the chirping birds and crickets all day long, with a little distraction from outside noises. It is a different experience from regular city hotels.
