Putri Pandan for the adventurers!
We spent the weekend at Putri Pandan with our 2-year old. We came on bicycle from Singapore. Frankly, this resort is ideally placed for cyclists, for example it is only 10 kms cycling from gorgeous Trikora beach (where we also found an Italian family who settled down and make amazing pizzas on the beach). The great advantage with a baby is the sand right in front of the bungalow.
But this resort is for the more adventurous ones; it can rain a bit inside of the bungalows in some parts, you won't have electricity for the whole day, and you definitely need a strong mosquito repellent.
Also, we would not recommend it for people without bicycle. Besides the beach (and you will have to wait for favorable tides to get enough depth for your swim!), if you don't have a bicycle, you will feel stuck.
With your bicycle, it is just perfect.
A very long cycle from the Bintan resorts terminal though. It would be somme 55 kms. Unless you try the jungle way (need montain bike) from Bintan Lagoon resort till Putri Pandan - which we did not try - that would cut it to some 40 kms or so, 25 of which will be in the jungle though.
Finally, strongly recommend to take some rubber shoes can wear to walk on the sand (can be a long walk to swim) - there are a few corals that can cut your feet), lots of mosquito repellent, and a battery-powered small lamp.
If you don't like the sterile resorts and prefer the adventure, this is a really romantic place.
But this may not be a place for everyone.
We will come back...
