It always riles me that the rooms shown on most hotel websites only feature the suite. it would be helpful to see what the standard rooms are like before one confirms a booking. my standard room at the ciputra was average. the room i stayed in looks a bit tired. bits of wallpaper were peeling. this was my second stay at the ciputra. i was given a slightly larger room than the first time round. the rooms are fairly small.
but the service is good and what makes Ciputra stands out is its location. the fact that the hotel sits atop one of Jakarta's largest shopping mall more than makes up for the other shortcomings. If you're only in jakarta for a few days, then the Hotel Ciputra is a good base. You won't need to take a taxi each time you want to go shopping or go out eating. It's all there at the Ciputra Mall. Forget the other fancy malls likie Plaza Senayan that stocks designer labels like Gucci and Loius Vuitton. Who wants to go to Jakarta to shop for Vuitton? Ciputra Mall is like the MBK Centre in Bangkok and Sungei Wang Plaza in KL. Lots of fun bargains.
So I'd recommend the Ciputra Hotel.
