This was a good place to stay especially because it was right next to Mal Manggu Dua where we got our pictures transferred from disk to memory and developed. The people were great, especially one guy in the dining area who was super-friendly and nice, sorry I don't remember his name. Only one thing on the negative side, we were staying with an Indonesian companion from Kalimantan and on at least one occasion in the dining area he was questioned twice about what room he was staying in even though all three of us had gone to breakfast together. We would like to see everyone treated with the courtesy and respect that we were as Americans--we felt bad for our friend. Otherwise it was a great place with friendly people and helpful staff. The ability to connect to the Internet was also appreciated.
Staff at the hotel are very helpful. However, reception staff find it very difficult to understand simple English. This can be a very busy hotel and if anybody wants more peace they should stay at the Ibis Kemayoran which is in a quieter location and nearby.
Service was alright. The hotel front desk tried their best to accomodate my requests, the end result being we meet 'half-way'. The service people were always courteous including the house- keeping staff.
My family and I had no time to make use of the facilities and amenities the hotel has as we were too busy shopping in Mangga Dua, so there is really nothing I can say about these.
However I would say the breakfast spread was too thin. Food was not that appetizing. Just wondering if I could just buy rooms at a cheaper rate without breakfast for my intended trip to Jakarta next month?
My stay was fine, near to shopping area Mangga 2. The staffs are helpful. The road leading the hotel seems a bit unsecured, was advised by cabby to stay indoor at night as the place not safe. Anyway, good for a budget traveller. Except that on my last day, the reception staff lost my room key from the Drop Box, and that delays my check-out time. Got to wait in their lobby for about an hour.
Room very clean and tidy. Staff very pleasant. Buffet breakfast very good selection. Outdoor swimming pool small, but very clean and very welcome after a hot day in Jakarta. Convenient location for North Jakarta (old city Batavia) and Kota Station. Would definitely stay there again.
This a good place to stay as it's near to the many shopping center. As for the public transport, it's easy to get from the main road. (2 minute walk) Beware, not to take the caps in front of the hotel. The charge extra. Do check on the Busways Lane services before making any plan for travelling within Jakarta.
About my stay at Ibis Mangga Dua:
1. Good service
2. Excellent breakfast
3. Reasonably comfortable
4. Location unfavorable
5. Room rate a bit too high in relation to other hotels (e.g. Maharaja)
