I stayed at the Ibis Slipi on...
I stayed at the Ibis Slipi on the basis of the positive reviews seen here and its good price. Happy to stay I was not disappointed by my choice. The room is nice and clean, just big enough for my needs, ie. sleep and store my shopping. Whilst there is no bath tub in my room, I really don't think Jakarta water is all that anyway. The staff were very courteous and helpful, any problems reported were rectified promptly. They take pride trying to communicate with you in English so be patient and speak slowly with your requests and queries. The other bonus about the Ibis Slipi is the exclusive Bluebird taxi stand at the front door. Always use the Bluebird group of taxis for your comfort and security. For first timers to Jakarta, go out the arrivals to the Silver Bird stand (higher grade Bluebird taxi). Check they are wearing the Silver Bird uniform (black shirt & pants with identifying Silver Bird logos). If anyone offers you a set price, ignore them politely unless you want to be severely ripped off with an off chance of being robbed within the first hour of your arrival. Jakarta is a fun place but not that safe from the criminal element, so always take care of your possessions when in crowded area and avoid the dark quiet ones. Have fun.

Hotel's location is perfect especially if you are visiting the area for business. The staff are friendly and I had no problem with checking out as others have advised. Make sure you inform the front desk of your check-out plan, and everything will go smoothly. The only problem, and this happens anywhere in Indonesia except in banks, is that there is no culture of queueing.

Indonesian people are very helpfull and friendly. But often they don't know much about directions and facilities in the city. Double check if you are advised by one of them. They hate to say "I don't know". So sometimes they give you wrong information about opening times, locations of shops or restaurants in the city. I would recommend the hotel because it meets European standards.

Good value for money. Easy reach from airport and city centre through proximity to toll-road. This can also be thought of as a disadvantage because of traffic noise. Personally I do not mind this last item very much.

The room (standard) was cramped for long...
The room (standard) was cramped for long stay, having neither armchair nor sofa. Reception counter was crowded every time because only a few staffs were in service, I would advise to allow 10 or 15 min. when you want to exchange or check out. The hotel is fairly good except the above points and the rate is so reasonable.
