On my reservation, I indicated that I would be arriving around 11pm, so naturally, I was expecting to be checked in once I got there. I reached the hotel around midnight due to flight delay. the guy at the reception told me to wait for about 30 mins since they had to clean my room. He said i could wait by the couch. Strike one. 40 mins later, there was still no word from any of the receptionists. so i walked right up to the guy who seemed to have forgotten about me. When I sounded pissed, a check in form was magically handed over for me to sign. How amusing. Strike 2. Though the room was relatively clean, it still looked a bit dingy and dated. Note to self: don't trust website photos. Strike 3.
Ibis Slipi was a huge disappointment. I always had this crazy idea that the Ibis brand had more to offer than what I received. I've stayed in many hotels, even budget hotels that cost around $60 SGD, way cheaper than Ibis. I had much better service there. The only redeeming value of Ibis Slipi was the lunch I had delivered to my room. The portion was satisfactory as well as the taste. Or perhaps I was just too hungry then, having arrived late the night before and room service was only till 11pm. I only stayed there for one night. And I don't think I'll be coming back.
