Gloomy room
The room was nicely furnished, but the small window and the massive building immediately opposite made it gloomy, and even the artificial light was not bright. The toilet was not completely clean.
On the plus side the breakfast service was very good, and the gym is well equiped. The pool is a bit small, though. I booked it for the location, but unless you got a better room than I did, you could do better elsewhere.

First time was a charm
Taxis only now the hotel location as Block M, but this is not prominently stated in their address. Add this and the hotel tel number to the reservation print out as it will help your travelling guests get there. Check in was completely fuss free as was check out. Air conditioning was really good which is something many hotels don't seem to get right, especially with the kind of humidity you get in Jakarta. Staff was very helpful when I was unable to access the free wifi in the lobby. Breakfast was decent, but it would have been nice to have more choice of English newspapers. Please consider having wifi in the rooms. It is such a necessity these days.

Well located and friendly
The rooms are not huge, tending on the small size, but they are adequate for a couple. Rooms lack space to take visitors but the hotel lobby has several seating areas. Room rental via Asia Rooms provides only one free breakfast per day per room, but extra smorgasbord breakfasts at the hotel restaurant are only around Rp60,000 (about $US 7.00) per person. The hotel is ideally located across the street from the busy Blok M shopping centre (Grande department store is very expensive but has a low priced food court; Blok M Square is a multti-storied multi-shop centre with a great range of stores with relatively inexpensive clothing and other items; Blok M mall offers crowded and very low priced shopping, but be prepared to bargain there. My preference is for Blok M Square which also had family style eating. While a little simple in style all eating courts seemed relatively hygienic.). Room cleaners at Ambhara hotel tended to be a little forgetful with replacing towels and topping up coffee making items, but there was no problem when they were asked for these items. Check-in and check out were stream-less with no problems or issues.

Ambhara is a three star hotel.
It's value for money. But as it is little money.....
Rooms are clean and bathroom is good. But the rooms are very small and the airco is noisy. One is really happy to get out.
Not all announced TV channels are available, the view is on the wall of the opposite building, thus no daylight.
Personnel is friendly but the reception always messes up. This time they maintained that for a reservation through Asiaroom, only one breakfast was included ( we had reserved for a couple). I had to threaten with leaving and it took 10 minutes to solve.

Recently spent 3 days in Jakarta on business. The Ambhara is located in South Jakarta and is right across from the Pasaraya shopping centre which has a great food court in the basement. The hotel is extremely clean and the staff will go to all lengths to make sure you are comfortable. I found the rooms to be a little on the smaller side but not uncomfortable. The breakfast spread was excellent, both continental & Indonesian favourites were great. Numerous eateries are in teh viciity and the area is one of the better ones in Jakarta. I would definitely reccomend this hotel to anyone who wants luxury at an affordable price.

The hotel is well situated in Blok M,the service staff are ultra friendly. But,the prices in the coffeeshop and bar are outrageous and insulting. Also, the cost for internet.A shame, because the hotel would be perfect-ish if they didn't rip guests off with scandelous prices for drinks, coffee and internet service...which in my opinion should be free.If tiny guest houses all over the world give free wi-fi,why not the bigger more expensive hotels? The have spoiled the feelgood factor by overcharging on extras.

Nice hotel and good value. Rooms are clean and everything functioned. Staff were friendly. The location is good, with the Blok-M bus station and bus-way stop just across the road. Would recomend for anyone doing business or staying on a holiday in this part of Jakarta.
