When you enter the hotel, the lobby...
When you enter the hotel, the lobby looks new and impressive. But when you go up the room, you will notice that the lifts are very old and worn out, the carpet in the corridor of the room are old and dirty. You can tell that this hotel had it's better days before. The rooms are large but old and worn out. The carpets are dirty and give a funny smell like probably due to it's age. Some of the furniture in the room are peeling off and drawers cannot be opened. Good for budget traveller but not for those who look for nice comfort after business meeting.

I stayed for 3 nights and it...
I stayed for 3 nights and it was a pleasant stay. The staff was very friendly and the buffet breakfast was excellent.

We spent 3 nights at Sahid Jaya...
We spent 3 nights at Sahid Jaya Hotel (june-july 2009). Generally it is a very good hotel, probably needing some renewals (espcially in rooms and bathrooms). Located in good position in Jakarta, but as usual in Jakarta you must take a taxi to go everywhere, because it is almost impossibile to walk on foot in that part of city. Breakfast is various and rich; food room service is quick and not expensive. No free internet connection from rooms and we experienced alo problems in free connection from the lobby. We can consider to stay again at Sahid Jaya in future.

This is a rather old hotel (1974)...
This is a rather old hotel (1974) and once considered 5-star material. No doubt it has seen better days. The carpets should be replaced at some stage, for example, and the front reception looks a bit shabby. Never mind. It comes at a very good rate and, further on the plus side, the staff is super-friendly and attentive and the restaurant is good, too. They currently give the main entrance a facelift, so action is taken. I will go back next time.
