A Balanced Review. With Good..... & bad.....
In reading all the comments, it was confusing as one group seemed to say the place is brilliant, while others that it was a waste of money.
I realise why. Waka was the first resort to be built on the island and was rather upmarket. Unfortunately as some have said it is rather run down.
Plus points:
- perfect for honeymooners as u have ur own private villa with its own 'space' from other villas
- rustic/ back to basics setup (depends what u expect)
- manager seems to be very friendly asking u each morning as u have breakfast whether everything is ok
- wonderful breakfast by the beach concept as they have a good portion of the beachfront.
- they provide bicycles and a free snorkling trip which is quite good.
Negative
- being badly maintained. We experienced a drainage problem in No. 7 for 2 days while they kept saying they fixed the problem
- when it obviously couldnt be fixed, they moved us to No 5. But that nite when we got back, after a heavy storm, the rain had leaked in an 1/3 of the villa was flooded.
- their resturant is certainly overpriced. Check out Cafe Bali down the road. Much better value for money.

Better breakfast should be added. Choice for breakfast was very poor but other than that, place was great!
Wakanusa was beautiful...getting your ride sorted out...
Wakanusa was beautiful...getting your ride sorted out to Nusa Lembongan before hand is a must and you need to contact the resort to arrange pickup a couple days before your stay. Otherwise it can be quite an adventure landing you on their beach by local fishermen! The snorkeling at various points around the island is beautiful although the surf is a bit strong in places with strong currents. It is a very serene resort with exceptional service from all staff! Although it is a bit on the rustic side..be prepared for lots of sand and the noise of village life around you...we didn't mind it one bit! Definately set out on foot to explore the island..you'll see more and have a better opportunity to interact with the locals. And if a local fisherman shows up on your doorstep offering you a fresh sea-plucked lobster..take it!! I gaurentee it'll be the best you have ever had!

This island was fantastic. Make sure you book boat transfers before you arrive or ensure you book somewhere on the mainland for your first night as the boats travel first thing in the morning - as we found out when we arrived at the airport at 10pm at night! Don't expect home comforts although the bungalows are lovely. We were informed that the hotel is due an upgrade over the coming months so it would be worthwhile checking when this will be complete. It is rather noisy - like living on a farm at times but it is a truly enchanting island with fantastic people. Bring plenty of books as there is not much to do if you don't like snorkeling.
This is the place to stay if...
This is the place to stay if you love the beach as the whole resort apart from the bungalows are covered in sand. It is also next door to a very vocal cockrel and loads of other noisy animals so take ear plugs !!! Bungalows are a bit basic, a bit like being in the Flintstones. The breakfast is lovely and perfect setting looking onto the beach.

It is a great resort! A place to get away and stay with the nature, the sea is blue and the water is clear, high tide and low tide really made the scene even more fascinating especially the sunset and the volcano on the background. It is a good deal with WakaLouka transfer.

Great for some peace and quiet, and privacy... all the bungalows are spaced well apart. DON'T pay for full-board, as there are a variety of options nearby... however the food at this place was excellent.
