Hi! Novotel Lombok is OK, but not...
Hi! Novotel Lombok is OK, but not as great as expected. Actually, the hotel is far from everything and the sea is quite disappointing. The bay in which the hotel is located is splendid but if you don't have a car or a bike to move around, you're juste stuck in the hotel and I just didn't feel I was in Indonesia. Moreover, everything is expensive (buffet, food at swimming pool....) and the quality of it is pretty poor. Anyway, we had a good time though. Just be aware that you'll be far, very far away from everything... and take a villa instead of a terrasse room!!!

We had a 2 day stay at this hotel and have been very happy. The rooms are slightly tired, but we did not spend much time in the room. The grounds of the hotel are reallynice. The infinity raised pool was fab. The staff have been very nice, and I can recommend the spa. I was a bit put off by the automayic 21% tax and service but this seems to be the case everywhere on Lombok. The hotel is suitable for people who want to be resort based, and enjoy the nature and piece and quiet. There is nothing in the vicinity, and it would take over 1 hour drive to find any nightlife. I would stay there again for a short break away from it all.

When we saw the beach it was...
When we saw the beach it was so beautiful you could cry. Lovely clear water, surrounded by grassy hills and no one there! This has a remote feel but it is actually only a hour from the capital. The hotel is still run by Novotel so the food is still very good...freshly made crepes for breakfast! This is a must visit before they build the new airport and the building starts. The only down side is the room arrangements were odd so we ended up taking standard rooms because the delux did not have the option of two beds. If they fix this it would have been perfect.

Beautifully styled hotel/village, fantastic location. The beach is wide, clean and more or less "private". We stayed in a villa, very pleasant and comfortable. Although everything is very close and not spread out, yet the atmosphere is quite (but the hotel was not fully booked). The area around is rather wild, so do not expect many possibilities for extra entertainment.

The Novotel Lombok hotel architecture is lovely and the staff are friendly. There are also interesting programes daily planned by the hotel. If you are looking for a hotel with large open spaces and convenient accessibility, you'd better off looking elsewhere in Lombok. It's a 1 1/2 hour ride from the airport/Mataram. Kuta is another 15min drive. You'd find the rooms tasteful but smallish and the layout of the hotel very compact. If you bring children, you need to plan activities for them. Though nicely designed, the children pool is more of a soaking pool. Food is delicious and tasty, though pricey. South Lombok is hot (temperature) ~ so beware!

It was bliss. Beautiful beach, peace and quiet, very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable rooms, lovely spa. This is the second time I've stayed here. Positive change is that now there is now a dive centre at Novotel and dive sites in the south, so divers do not have to make the long journey to Gilis in the north. Negative change is more sellers of tourist wares on the beach but they are not excessively intrusive. Novotel Lombok is also a bit secluded and cut-off which has its advantages but I would also highly recommend making the effort to go to Kuta village for excellent inexpensive food and to explore other beaches nearby which are even more fabulous.

"Fantastic" is correct... it is really the most brilliant hotel. The best staff in any hotel I have ever stayed in..so friendly and helpful. Downside the Novotel Lombok, well yes its far from "civilisation" but to us thats the beauty of the place. Lots to do, plenty of gorgeous beaches to play on and in, and the local village has a few decent places to eat. Really if your looking for Kuta Bali..go there! You won't find it in this Kuta..thank God!!

Overall, we had a very nice stay at Novotel Lombok:
- The complex, built in the traditional Sasak style, is very nice
- Staff are very friendly
- Standard / Superior room rates are good value considering the standard of the hotel
- This hotel is part of the "Coralia" group. They propose a lot of activities (jogging, potery, mini massage, beach volley, petanque, Sunset walk...) free of charge. Many activities for children
- If you are looking for a peaceful location for a relaxing holiday, that's definitely the place to be
On the negative side:
- The beach is definitely not the best in the area. Especially at low tide, there are some rocks / pieces of coral (Mawan beach, 20 min away by motorbike is better)
- The swimming pools are relatively small and there are no tennis court (surprising considering the size of this hotel)
- Food is expensive in the hotel restaurants. In the evening, there are not many alternatives as it's a little far to walk to the village

one word! "Fantastic" stayed for two weeks. All the staff were really freindly and helpfull. we used the garden pool to swim and lounge around every day most of the time we were the only ones around. so peacefull. totally amazing time would recomend to anyone.
The only down side was that their was nothing else locally around. but the hotel offer car hire so you can go explorering! just buy a map from the shop as Lombok seem to have about 2 road signs only.
