Would have given Losari Metro a passing grade if not for the "bait and switch" policy all too familiar in Indonesia. After check-in and making abundantly clear I wanted to pay by credit card (credit card logos are clearly available as is the credit card machine) I was told that it was perfectly acceptable although the check in assistant insisted that I pay upon check out (rather peculiar because in every instance if the booking is for only one night immediate payment is requested). Upon check out, everything was A OK until the check out assistant was given a wink and nod by a female clerk obviously his superior and instructed to tell me that either the machine was out of order or that credit card payment could not be made at that time. After a series of unsuccessful swipes and rather upset, I informed the staff that under no circumstances would I pay with cash as I had been guaranteed that I could pay with credit card and that they would have to make arrangements or else. By an act of magic that would make Gandalf the grey proud voila the machine was swiped again, and lo and behold it was working fine and in perfect working order.
This petty act of deception had two unfortunate results
1-I canceled my future booking at the hotel since I was to return to Makassar in 4 days.
2-I will never trust this hotel nor its affiliates again.
A pity that some pay for the mistakes and arrogance of others as the check in assistant was particularly helpful.
