At $US22 per night, don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed. It's self-rated as a 1 Star and that's about right. The bare essentials and basically clean.
Bedding was clean, as in laundered, but stained. Bathroom dark & damp. If you like toilet paper you'll need to ask.
No air-con but the climate is mild and the air is fresh -- it didn't really need it.
TV in the room, but we didn't use it.
The staff were friendly and wanted to be helpful.
In-house dining limited to fried rice and fried noodles (dinner & breakfast) , which was prepared and served quickly. A cold beer means beer poured over ice.
Also, be aware that local terminology for bed types seems to be "single bed" and "twin beds". If you want a double bed (as in one bed for two) you might find that asking for a "double bed" achieves an undesired result.
If you are budget-conscious and only want a room to sleep for one night (perhaps in transit to Samosir Island) this might be the place.
