My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Melia from the 3/12 - 7/12. The facilities and the staff are really worthy of its 5 star ranking. The staff are always most willing to offer their assistance and were very friendly. They really made our stay pleasant. My family and I really felt safe in the hotel with the security available. The housekeeping staff were most honest - they did not even take the tips that we left every single day until we wrote in writing for them to take them. The swimming pool is also pleasant but it would be much better if the kiddy pool is separate from the deep pool. The staff in charge was friendly, helpful and mindful of our needs. As for the food, excellent! - different menus everyday. The spa & saloon staff are knowledgable and friendly.
Unfortunately, the staff knowledge about when the airport is open is sadly lacking. Also they seem not to be aware about the Airport tax for international departure. Throughout my 4 days stay, i had asked different staff about the amount - different answers were given 25,000 rupiah, 100,000 rupiah and 150,000 rupiah - none got it correct which is 75,000 rupiah. As we were on the very early morning flight (7am), i had even requested the staff to check with the airport on when the airport is open. They told me that its open only at 6am. Imagine our horror when we arrived at the airport on how late we were. With a large number of baggage to checkin & with 2 small children, an invalid mother & a maid who need to go for a physical - imagine my state of mind at that time. If the staff had given me a more accurate information, my experience of Yogya would be much more pleasant.
Oh, by the way - the airport opens at 4am & the airport transfer service only starts at 530am. So if you need an early ride to the airport, please flag a transport outside of the hotel!!!
