Reading the profile, I was expecting more...
Reading the profile, I was expecting more of the traces of the old noble man's (Mr. Brongtodiningrat's) mansion and yet it seemed only the meeting lounge and main gate were original - the rests were new buildings and rather aged (they're renovating them). But at least, when entering the very spacious front yard with many big trees, we could still feel a different atmosphere. For the price, the room, bed and breakfast were not bad and one can sit at the balcony (or the terrace if you get a bungalow) to enjoy the old-fashioned garden. The bathroom was clean with well running cold and hot water, good towels and adequate amenities, unfortunately it had a bit of an unpleasant smell. The service was good; everyone was indeed helpful. The nicest thing was that we could ride a 'becak' (Indonesian rickshaw) starting right in front of the hotel to almost any part of this beautiful town enjoying the view along the way. A big group of family tourists from the Netherlands were doing it and it was fun watching the parade.
