Hotel Description

Hotel Villa Rita is situated about 300 metres from the main road in the countryside just outside the walls of antique Paestum, on a property of two hectares. It's an ideal, tranquil setting for those who are seeking a break from the city. The hotel has a restaurant, pool and private parking.

For those who love the sun and swimming, our pool is situated in an oasis of trees and lawn area made all the more pleasurable with an outdoor bar, tables, umbrellas and desk-chairs.

It's 900 metres from the beach and 1400 metres from the railway station.

Inside the villa is like a breath of calm air, nearly of other times.
A fireplace covered in Vietrese Ceramica makes from a hinge between the hall it knows adding a modern touch of elegance.
The soft light in the hall is remminicent of the years that have come before it, creating a rallegra atmosphere in the evenings.
The furnishings of the hotel is of a romantic taste, and the walls and walks ways compliment this atmosphere with its warm colors.
The hall also provides its guests with many multifunctional purposes that is used by its many guests throught the season.

Each room contains a private bathroom (with a hairdryer), a bar-fridge, airconditioning, heating and a telephone. Some of the rooms are situated outside the main Villa directly immersed in a natural setting.

Restaurant

At Hotel Villa Rita the day begin with a buffet breakfast. Every morning we serve a variety of home-made pastries, biscuits, croissants, bread, cereals, fresh fruit and fruit juice. On request we can also serve eggs, cheeses, salami and cold-cuts. For lunch and dinner we offer an extensive menu that includes meat, fish and vegetarian dishes.

At the end of your meal you can enjoy delicious desserts prepared by our chef, or alternatively a selection of fresh seasonal fruits.

Paestum and surrounding area

Hotel Villa Rita is an excellent starting point for those planning excursions to one of the many interesting places that are located around the area.

Posidonia was founded by greeks in the sixth century BC and became in the third century a roman colony under the name of Paestum. It retained the name until the third Century BC when the Romans gained control and renamed the area Paestum, the name that it still goes by today. Paestum is now considered one of the most important archaeological sites of Magna Graecia, thanks to the presence of the three large Doric Temples located within the mighty city walls: the amphitheatre, the forum and the Archeological Museum, which features the finest examples of Greek tomb paintings, and the famous Tomb of the Diver. Among Paestum’s remarkable historical sites, also lies a sandy coastline which stretches for 15 miles. This beach is visited every year by vacationers who come to Paestum in appreciation for the white beaches and clean sea.

To the south of Paestum is the beginning of the Cilento Coast in which many medieval cities are located. In Agropoli, a city situated near Paestum, you will find a magnificent castle overlooking the city with a spectacular view of the sea and its marina. Nearby, you can also visit Castellabate, a noteworthy seaside resort of the Cilento Coast. At the foot of Castellabate’s medieval village, between Punta Licosa and Punta Tresino, extends a marine protected area with long sandy beaches, and rocky cliffs amidst an enchanted sea. Velia (ancient Elea), which thanks to its geographical position became one of the richest polis of Magna Graecia. This city is renowned for its ancient school’s of philosophy and beautiful beach resorts of Marina di Camerota and Palinuro.

Forty-five km north of Paestum marks the beginning of the Amalfi Coast. In the charming town of Amalfi and Ravello are beautiful monuments and landscapes that will appeal to every traveler’s taste. A one hour train ride will lead you to the archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum as well as Vesuvias located in Naples. Do not miss a visit to the spectacular island of Capri, reachable by boat from the ports of Agropoli and Salerno. The Charterhouse of Padula is also a site to see with its splendid example of Baroque Campania and featuring the largest cloister in the world.

Finally, in the hinterland are the Caves of Castelcivita which visitors will find a natural landscape of complex caves full of stalactites and stalagmites with a thousand forms. read more
