Summary
The Hotel is situated in a large, beautiful garden with breathtaking views of the island, the bay of Naples, the Sorrento peninsular and the Amalfi Coast.
It's close to the center of Anacapri and to the chairlift that takes you to the highest point of the island on Monte Solaro; just a short walking distance away is Axel Munthe's famous Villa San Michele.
The hotel was constructed in neo-classical style in 1870's, and opened in 1904 under the name of 'Hotel Molaro'. In a short while famous artists, writers and noble families frequented it.
The elegant lounges furnished in the style of Louis XVI provide a welcoming atmosphere that takes one back to the time when the Queen of Sweden and the Kaiser and other friends of the doctor Axel Munthe frequently visited the hotel.
The Hotel San Michele has a wonderful and sunny swimming pool, surrounded by trees, where you can relax in a peaceful setting from sunrise to sunset.
From the spacious restaurant, there are wonderful panoramic views of the Gulf of Naples.
These large areas can seat guests for all types of functions with typical regional food and Capri specialities.
Every year at 'Ferragosto' (August the 15th) guests are offered a Grand Gala around the swimming pool with glittering lights, local music, dancing and buffet and drinks.
