The building, which dates from the 12th century, housed a girls boarding school in the 1800’s.
Closed for the last ten years, the site was recently restored to its former splendor and prepared for its present use thanks to the Iacopini family who has been its proprietor for many years. This work has left unaltered the original structure of the building, and has successfully created an elegant, charming residence in the heart of Lucca’s historic city center.
Known today as the Palazzo Alexander, the residence encompasses four floors of rooms and junor suites, all with modern, private bathrooms-some with whirlpool baths. In addition, all rooms contain such conveniences as air conditioning, satellite television, telephones, computer hook-ups, safe and hairdryers.
The décor of the residence reflects the noble Lucchese style with the use of antique wood floors in all the bedrooms and fine marble and other local stones in the bathrooms, lobby and common rooms. The entrance hall, breakfast room, bar and lobby are tastefully decorated with fine fixtures and upholstery in elegant pastel hues.
Breakfast, a buffet of fresh, local products, is presented in harmonious style and elegance with services of fine silver, crystal and porcelain.
A special selection of Tuscan wines allows our guests to combine the delightful atmosphere of the residence with other great pleasures of this noble region.
Located in the center of Lucca’s historic district, Palazzo Alexander is easily reached from the main highway exits and from local train and bus stations.
