In the historic and commercial center of Lucca, just between the city theater and the immense Ducal Palace, the Hotel Universo is one of the historical monument of the city.
The house dates back to the 1500 and preserves the environment, the atmosphere and the elegant salons of the past. The House became an Inn in 1850 known as the "Locanda Universo and Tosca” and later it was converted into Hotel, in 1857.
The 56 rooms at guests' disposal are furnished in a sober and elegant manner and furnished with every comfort: private bathroom with soft linens, telephone, mini-bar, television and internet connection Wi-Fi. Most of the rooms has a spectacular view of the Duomo, the green of Piazza Napoleone and the eighteenth century theater of the Piazza del Giglio. The Universo is the ideal place to start visiting monuments, churches and historic buildings of the center and to see towers, small squares and hidden alleys. Starting from Lucca you can then visit some of the many villas in Piana di Lucca, historic country houses built by merchants of Lucca in the fifteenth to the nineteenth century.
