The name of Locanda del Pontefice came from the legend about Pope Urbano VIII , Maffeo Barberini, that during a journey to the Palazzolo Convent made a rest where now our hotel is settled. The Pope saw in that time the most beautiful panoramic view of the lake and the roman country . La Locanda del Pontefice is close to Ciampino Airport and not far from the city centre. Is near Castel Gandolfo where the Pope is used to spend some period of relax not far from Vatican City . From here is very easy to get in Rome downtown but you can also enjoy the Castelli Romani area visiting the Palazzo Chigi in Ariccia or stopping in one of the cellars that producing the famous Castelli Romani wine surrounded from an area that has the tradition of good food and living. read more
