IL MARRUGIO, VITERBO

Hotel Description

The agritourism is located 15 km from the centers of Viterbo and Tuscania, 2 km from Norchia and 5 km from Vetralla. It is located in a panoramic position with views of Montefiascone, Viterbo, Tuscania and San Martino al Cimino. It offers rooms equipped with all comforts along with a villa. Completing the structure are a pool, tennis courts and a five-a-side field.

The agritourism has 22 hectares of land cultivated with olives, vineyards, nut orchards and vegetable gardens. It is made up of 10 rooms that are equipped with all comforts: kitchen, private bath, heated floors, air conditioning, free internet connection, telephone, television. Guest may also use the billiard room for a delightful evening with family or friends, a large equipped pool, tennis courts and five-a-side field. There is also a villa with 4 bedrooms, living room and kitchen, game room, bathroom and woodstove.
Also important is the renewable energy source system (20 kw photovoltaic system, solar heating system and geothermal system).
The agritourism is located in particularly favorable location for those who wish to explore the surrounding area and for those who love history. In just a few minutes you can reach Viterbo (known throughout the world as the "City of the Popes"), with its beautiful medieval quarter, the Papal Palace on Cathedral Hill, the Albornoz Fortress (home of the National Museum), the church of Santa Maria della Verità (with the Civic Museum right next to it), the Farnese Palace, the Chigi Palace, the Mayor's Palace and the Town Hall with its 44 meter high tower. There are also numerous famous "spindle" fountains that decorate the city streets and squares.
The cities of Vetralla, famous for its olive mills and wine cellars and Tuscania, whose Etruscan history merges with the Roman and Medieval, are also very beautiful. Built on a large tuffaceous shelf, today Tuscania is one of the most important Viterbo centers on the southern edge of the Volsini Mountains. Rich in artisanal and artistic tradition, it offers "scents and flavors" that remain with those who have been lucky enough to come in contact with them. Not to be missed are the churches of S. Maria Maggiore and S. Pietro, the Cathedral, the Town Hall, the National Tuscan Museum lodged in the Renaissance church of S. Maria del Riposo and the Etruscan necropolis in the areas surrounding the city, that make up an important sepulchral complex (Queen's Tomb, Ara del Tufo, Peschiera, Castelluzza).
Other places to visit are the Papal Baths and the Bullicame thermal springs (mentioned by Dante Alighieri in Canto XIV of the Inferno), the Cimini mountains, Lake Vico and Lake Bolsena, the ancient Etruscan tombs at Castel D'Asso, Norchia and Barbarano Romano.
