Rihga Hotel is more than we expected.
The staff are helpful. There are lots of well English speaking staff and overall the service is excellent.
I quite recommend families with average budget to stay in this hotel.
The only thing which needs improvement is the internet service. They should double the numbers of computerinstalled for residents to use.

This Hotel is quite well located near the main Train Station of Kyoto, with a free permanent shuttle bus service to/from the hotel. The breakfast is well presented with many options, from western style to
japanese, and the facilities are clean and well equipped. Bit i found it a bit poor for a hotel of this kind to offer a TV service of 4 to 5 channels only, with only CNN in English, which forces you to pay for the Pay TV movies. Also it is ridiculous to have to pay 25 $ for access to an indoor swimming pool! Otherwise its a good hotel.

I stayed here in November with an ikebana group and shared a very nice standard room with two other ladies. The room was spacious and we were very comfortable. Breakfast was included and the buffet
was excellent. Very good selection of both Western and Japanese breakfast. For budget travelers there are smaller basic rooms typical of Japanese chain hotels on the 6th floor. Standard rooms are brightly decorated and comparable to US 4-star hotel. The 10th/top floor has beautiful tatami sitting room, separate bedroom and beautiful modern Japanese bath..a truly wonderful experience. Free shuttle to and from Kyoto station/bus terminals very convenient. Toji temple flea market is walking distance.(Third Tuesday of the month)

"If compare with same grade hotel and..."
If compare with same grade hotel and the price in Japan/Kyoto, Rihga Royal Hotel Kyoto is great choice. The room NOT very small. Service is good. Their sky restaurant have a good kyoto view especailly
at night and the restaurant can rotate.The breakfast I recommend their japanese breakfast as good taste and pretty. The defect just only I still need walk arround 10 minutes to JR Kyoto Station as when it's rainning that no any canopy.

Very nice hotel, the only remark would be to add "English breakfast tea" in the room to extend the choice of tea available.
The proposal at 2000 yens per night to upgrade the room was fair.

Outstandin location.5 minutes from either exit of the Kyoto JR station. The room furnitures and carpets are worn, and shows age. Internet connection is not free, a bit annoying in Japan. The hotel should say
before arrival that they provide shuttle bus service from JR station to hotel. When I called about shipping a suitcase to Chubu International Airport, the front person did not know the procedure, a minor weakness. But overall the location and reasonable price compensate for them.

"Check in was poor as we had..."
Check in was poor as we had booked for 3 nights and initially were only checked in for 1 night.
First nights room was very small but other 2 nights were adequate.
Service was excellent after check in especially free shuttle bus.

A beautifully appointed hotel, with excellent room, facilities and gracious service; a very short walk to Kyoto Station through interesting little back lanes (or shuttle bus if required). As a 'senior' travelling alone, I felt
most comfortable and safe in this hotel - and quite spoiled (esp with the great Asia Rooms deal - thank you for this terrific service!!) I will certainly use Asia Rooms again.

BEAUTIFUL HOTEL AND VERY FRIENDLY STAFF. THE JR STATION SHUTTLE BUS WAS A GREAT HELP.
OUR ONLY COMPLAINTS WERE THAT CAFE, RESTAURANT & BAR PRICES WERE VERY HIGH. ALSO THE POOL WAS VERY REGIMENTED.
